chris hayes is the host of "all in" and joins us now from paris. n can you feel over there since we got over there? we can't see on television about the atmosphere of -- including the atmosphere of people toward the media, that come into this country. >> well, i think people understand why the media is here. i don't think there's any sort of frustration about that. what i do think is happening here is a real difference between the reaction since the "charlie hebdo" attacks nine months ago and these attacks, and for a number of reasons, but mostly because i think the way in which the targeting happened sort of, the random cruelty of it, has really spooked people. and i think it's spooked people amidst what was already a huge geopolitical crisis on the continent of europe and france and in germany and netherlands and greece around the refugee crisis. and those two issues, as far as the investigation tells us, are distinct issues. in fact, an eu official saying everyone who carried out this attack were eu nationals. but those two issues, because they a

i'm chris hayes. this was the scene moments ago at a trump rally in columbus, ohio after a protester reacted to comments from donald trump about surveilling muslims in america. the protester shouted down by angry members of the crowd. a scene that's been repeated over and over again at trump campaign events. the very first day of donald trump's candidacy when he referred to mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists his campaign has been characterized by extreme statements steeped in bigotry and bearing a tenuous relationship to facts. but donald trump is still the front-runner. he's paid very little price for those kinds of comments. in the wake of the attacks in paris with much of the political and media establishment stoking fear and panic, trump seems to have concluded he can only benefit by ratcheting up the rhetoric even further. in just the last three days he's trotted out a long debunked myth about american muslims celebrating on 9/11. >> i watched when the world trade center came tumbling do

i'm chris hayes. breaking news tonight out of chicago. where officials just released video of the shooting death of 17-year-old laquan mcdonald who was killed by a chicago police officer on october 20th, 2014, 13 months ago. that officer has just been arrested and indicted for first degree murder. the first time in recent memory that a chicago police officer has been charged with a criminal offense for shooting while on duty. video of the shooting which we will broadcast in a moment was to be released no later than tomorrow by court order. on october 20th of last year, police responded to a call that a person breaking into cars. they found laquan mcdonald carrying a knife, a three-inch blade. the video seems to show mcdonald was walking away from the arriving police vehicles when the shooting happened. the dashcam video of the saluting death we're about to show you is disturbing. we have blurred out portions of the footage. the video you see was described by cook county state's attorney anita alvarez this way. mcdonald crossed over the wh
