i'm chris jansing in for tamron hall coming to you live from our msnbc headquarters in new york. there were some heated exchanges there. we saw a little bit of a filibuster with 30 minutes of al franken, but this was a contentious day already on capitol hill. the senate judiciary committee voting along party lines as you saw on the nomination of senator jeff sessions for u.s. attorney general. just approved. now earlier this morning, there was also a battle over the nominations of tom price and steve mnuchin and all of that happening while a huge battle is shaping up on the supreme court nominee. a tremendously consequential day on capitol hill. kasie hunt joins us with the latest. we're going to get to a lot of stuff to the supreme court side but give us a shorthand of what's going on with these cabit in nominees. >> chris, good morning. democrats really have dug in over the course of the past 72 hours on these cabinet nominees. it's part of the overall temperature here on capitol hill has ratcheted up in the wake of that executive order. while democrats had been trying to hold
