chris jansing, what are you picking up? >> i just heard from a republican who has frankly in conversations previously not been a big fan of the communications team and felt that the president needed to do something about it. but this speaks to, i think, the impact that blockbuster "new york times" interview and the president giving it, sort of off the cuff with virtually only one white house staffer there, has had shaking up a lot of republicans here in washington. he writes to me, my fear, especially after that "new york times" interview, is that it doesn't change the equation. speaking, obviously, about sean spicer being gone and scaramucci coming in as communications director. it's hard to see how scaramucci so loyal and experienced on camera won't be undermined or contradicted by the president as he has to so many loyalists. there are some typos in here. i.e. sessions. i think one of the things here is that there has been so much concern about the interview in the "new york times" and how many different levels of inquir

chris jansing back at the white house. what's your takeaway there sfl notably missing was any proof for what the president has said and the reason putting the commission together and that is his claim more than 5 million people, 5 million cases of voter fraud in the election, something debunked widely by a lot of people involved in the election process. he makes it sound as if the secretaries of state and majority of states have been cooperating with this request for what many believe is invasive information, a lot of those people who have indeed complied are people who have given to this commission information that was already publicly available. a couple of things i will point out stephanie about what he said, he said that he would be addressing the concerns of so many about voter fraud. why spread voter fraud. in fact there was a poll by politico earlier in the year that showed 25%, only one in four believed there was any widespread voter fraud and in fact in the same poll, more people believe that any voter fraud there

i want to start with chris jansing over at the white house. chris, let's talk about this putin part two talk that happened at the g20. that is really what is driving a lot of the headlines today. the white house pushing back hard on this. explain why they're saying no translators on the president's side and where does this story go from here? >> that's the big question. everybody wants to know, you said it at the top. wouldn't you have liked to have been a fly on the wall for this meeting that nobody knew about outside of the folks in that room. and the white house, when you talk about that big pushback, they say it wasn't even a meeting. that this was a social event and that there was music being played and sitting down to dinner and then perfectly normal for world leaders to get up to circulate, to talk to each other. and, in fact, the president said that the press knew about it. the press was able to take pictures. what we call the family photo. that they knew this dinner was happening and he criticized the press for making it it look sinist
