i'm chris jansing. more grim news at the epicenter of the pandemic, new york. we just learned the state's death toll is nearing 2,400. 432 new deaths reported today, up from yesterday's increase of 391. the state now has a total of more than 92,000 people infected. today, nearly the entire country is on some form of lockdown. about 82% of the u.s. with major states belatedly joining in just the last day. first florida, then georgia and mississippi. following pressure brought on by growing numbers of cases in all those states. georgia's governor said his decision was based on new information that really wasn't new at all. >> i think it's the reason i'm taking this action, just like i've continued to tell people i'm following the data and following the advice of dr. toomey. she and i both mentioned in our remarks that finding out this virus is now transmitting before people see signs. so what we've been telling people from directives from the cdc for weeks now that if you start feeling bad, stay home. tho
