meteorologist chris lambert is here tracking tonight's freezing rain. chris. >> couldn't get much of a break-through in the day either so a lot of the ice on the driveways and sidewalks staying there throughout the day as we barely buzz to 20 degrees in boston... there's more air about 1,000 feet up. couldn't get that down. the cold air has been tough to move, taking a look at freezing rain breaking out tonight and we do get some meting tomorrow, high confidence in that as the west wind will kick in and kind of help scour out some of this a few hours, just a little bit of moisture in place. doesn't get picked up on the radar all that well. there will be more showers building back and later this evening. i think any of the steadier precipitation is likely after about 9:00, 10:00 in the evening which could come in the form of freezing rain about midnight tonight pretty close to the boston area. could hold on to that cold air longer. merrimack valley out through much of worcester county as well as getting into places like stow and concourt and down to hocki

meteorologist chris lambert is here with the forecast and more on the threat for tonight. >> yesterday afternoon we saw the cold air work back in from north to south. a shallow layer of cold air and it's been stuck all day. 30 the high is all day long in boston. 33 in plymouth, upper 20s north and west. we were never able to crack that freezing mark and with low-level moisture in place and more showers working in from the west this evening we do have renewed chances of freezing drizzle and freezing rain over much of the area. the advisory extends until 3:00 in the morning. the last location the city above freezing temperatureup in the merrimack valley and southern new hampshire away from the coastline. radar looks a quiet. fine patchy freezing mist in a few spots out there with of fog. you can see to the west of us, a lot of clouds working in across upstate new york. i do actually expect more showers to break out in this area, and that will be the shower that works in later this evening. so anything we get over the next several hours is just a little bit of patchy drizzle, patchy mist.
