let me go to chris jansing. lawrence, stay with me. . >> good morning. i'm not sure exactly what you've covered so far. i just put on my moik crow phone. but nbc news has learned that chuck hagel later today will be stepping down as defense secretary. what i can tell you that in the little less than two years he has served as defense secretary, he has not made his way into the obama inner circle. he was the lone republican. he was brought in particularly for the purpose of winding down the war in afghanistan. there has been a renewed focus here on what to do about the threat of terror. particularly isis. clearly the decision has been made. now, officially the reporting is this was a mutual decision that has come to by a series of meetings over the last several weeks. there have been indications certainly from the defense department that chuck hagel planned to continue throughout the final two years of the obama presidency. we will hear more about that later on today. it looks as they we will be getting a new defense secretary. chuck hag

chris may. this happened on lawrence road, and "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco is live at the scene now, three people aboard that school bus, and the driver of the bmw are all at, area hospitals, this evening, being treated, for minor injuries. chopper 3hd, was overhead, earlier this afternoon shortly after this happened, police say around 3:00 o'clock today. bus was coming from rockbrook school in skill man, new jersey on board was a 16 year-old student, 71 year-old bus aid and 44 year-old bus driver when it collided with a bmw, heading in the opposite direction on 206. here's what police say happened next. >> bus was traveling south, on state highway 206, just behind us, and the bmw, on state highway 206. they don't have an exact location of impact, and still being determined, and one of the vehicles crossed over the center line, to create the impact, but that is still undernvestigation. >> reporter: everybody on board that school bus was wearing a seat belt and a 26 year-old driver of that bmw was able to walk away from this crash with only bps and bruises.
