chris mcbee, simon brewer, thank you so much.imon will have a show this evening on the weather channel at 9:00. watch that. we'll check in with our mike bettes from the weather channel. we're trying to talk to mike before. he's at the staging area in the target parking lot not too far from here. what's the update there? we await more firm numbers about the fatality and what the injury toll is? >> yeah, and i think what happens when these situations arise, thomas, is they are very well prepared. so we're at a dick's sporting goods. next door is a target, next to that is a home depot. the reason the emergency managers picked these areas is because they're big box stores and they have huge parking lots. one parking lot is for media to set up, media, then a tire hnj changing center for police officers' cars, then behind that, the command post including oklahoma bureau of investigation, u.s. marshals are here setting up their command post, national guard, and feeding stations for the first responders and beyond that at the home depot

chris mcbee with rapid rotation storm tours. he joins us from moore, oklahoma.m the weather channel series "storm riders," he's actively chasing these tornadoes right now and joins us on the phone. let's start withchris. this turns out to be a big one. ef-5. tell me how that differs when you get up to 200 miles an hour, what that's capable of doing to property, human, animal life, whatever? buildings? >> just as you can see, it's just utter destruction everywhere you look. there are houses completely ripped off their foundations. it's an awful scene here, as you can plainly see. when you get up into the ef-5 range, that's incredible damage. that's how they categorize that. and it's just awful, as is obvious on the ground here in moore. >> we're looking at kind of a snaking, it's a little bit wider than a snaking twitter. it's one of those that sort of to me is iconic. an iconic twister. how close can you get to watching that when you take people to go look at it and hopefully are safe when they do it? >> well, we do everything safely. my storm tour company. a to

let's go to chris mcbee who's a storm chaser actually on the ground in oklahoma. chris, we're looking at aerial shots. these pictures are pretty ominous. what can you see? >> well, we had a very low-hanging wall cloud near chikashay, oklahoma. we're reapproaching as it reaches blanchard, oklahoma. this could be a threat for the oklahoma city metro. we're watching this very closely. >> and are you noticing any kind of rotation yet? have these clouds in any way begun to gather together and produce the kind of force that happened ten days ago? >> well, i don't know about the force that was ten days ago. it was quite a devastating tornado. we've not seen anything like that just yet. we have definitely seen some low-level rotation, and this is of immediate concern to people in this area. >> and as you look out, are people still using the roads? can you see people around? or have people generally decided to move away or move under ground, as it were, and away from being exposed to this weather system? >> well, we're not seeing that many people scrambling to get under gro

. >> chris mcbee is a storm chaser, making his way to moore right now to help with the rescue effort. were watching it, what was it like? >> i've seen a lot of tornadoes and this is literally the worst one i have ever seen? it was easily a mile wide, we were probably a half mile south of it when it crossed into the city of moore. there was debris in the air, we knew it hit a lot of residential areas, it was quite devastating, it was the worse tornado i have ever seen in my chasing career. >> this term that's been used as monster, it's almost like when you look at it coming, it's got something like an animal personal to it. i kind of know what you mean, there's a point where it seems monstrous, absolutely. it's just utter devastation. it's the worst that mother nature can, you know, can put forth and it's just an awful thing to see. >> so what we're getting is the information from the congressman and others that when that thing hits, it hits and nothing stays. >> yeah, i mean with the devastation, i mean there are entire neighborhoods that were completely wiped out, just like your prev
