. >>> let's get reaction from a key member of the senate foreign relations committee, chris murphy oficut. let's talk about ukraine first. you agree with president biden's decision to rule out f-16 fighter jets for ukraine at least for now. and you say it could compromise nato security if the u.s. can't deliver promised weapons to other allies. isn't nato a greater risk if ukraine can't beat putin? >> i think it is important to remember that our number one obligation as members of congress and the senate is to defend the united states. and we cannot transfer any weapons to ukraine that compromises our ability to protect ourself. it is important to understand that the f-16 is a system. it is not just an airplane. and it normally takes us years to train up a country on how to operate and service the f-16. if we were to give these planes to ukraine today, it would likely necessitate a lot of u.s. military personnel being directly involved in the operation and maintenance of those airplanes. an of course that would violate the promise that we have made to not involve u.s. troops directly

let's bring in chris murphy, and randall elie to talk about where people might see opportunity right welcome to both of you chris, let's start with you. we like to check in with you on quad witching day. we've seen the vics jumping this week how would you describe the liquidity position >> it has been a wild week in terms of each specific day on each day, we're still up on the week but despite being up on the week, the vics is flat or up small. and there's still a lot of concern out there. the main reason those are remaining on the higher end and staying firm while the market rallies is because investors are more worried about the downside tail options you know, during the inflation and the higher rates over the last year, that was pretty well known and priced in, at least from a volatility perspective. now, we have this new, unknown bank issue, leading to much more demand for downside put protection, which increases a skew on something like the s&p 500. >> you know, a lot has been made, chris, of the fact that treasury liquidity is not what it used to be. people are concerned about

senator chris murphy. senator yeah, you have applauded your republican colleagues when they came out and disagreed with republican florida governor ron desantis. who said that the fight in ukraine was a territorial dispute, not in america's vital interests. desantis um, it gave another interview in which he declared putin a war criminal and said that putin should be held accountable. what did you make of that? i think he's listening to the criticism. i mean, his position is not a mainstream position in america. today republicans and democrats in my state still support ukraine because they do believe there's a connection between fighting. the russians and protecting ukrainian democracy and protecting our own democracy . so it could be that desantis realized he got way out of step with where the broad american electorate is, and he's you know, trying to make up the difference. um the problem is that it's not just ron desantis . it's not just donald trump. there's a growing number of republicans in the house

and i was i mean, i'm heartened by the fact that thom tillis, chris murphy were able to come together and do you know, take some steps on gun reform earlier this year, but it clearly isn't going far enough. and i think what happens unfortunately, is too often the right retreats into the partisan corner of we've got to just address mental health and hardener schools and then the left says it's only about the guns give joe biden credit. he has addressed the mental health aspect. it's both it requires a gun to commit the crime, but it requires somebody who is in a mental state that they're willing to mow down children. you have to be able to address both. you should get the hell out of congress. if you're not willing to act on it, and people saying we're not doing anything well, then then let someone else do it. but you both have said that. and here's here's someone here is a congressman who says there is just no way we're ever going to fix this. so this is congressman tim burchett on gun legislation. he is, um, from nashville. i believe so listen to him today. three. precious little kid
