i spoke with connecticut senator chris murphy, who sits on the senate foreign relations committee, aboutnteroffensive and us and nato support. senator murphy, thank you forjoining us on bbc news. i want to start with the situation in ukraine. we are seeing the early stages of the ukrainian cou nteroffe nsive. ukraine claims to have recaptured some villages. we see on the other end russia saying it has repelled ukrainian forces. how do you assess this counteroffensive so far? i think it is far too early to assess the success of the counteroffensive. i understand we're going to be hanging on to news coming out of eastern ukraine, sitting on pins and needles, but we will need days if not weeks to understand the scope of this fight and it will probably be ongoing throughout the entirety of the summer and fall. all i know is we have continued to deliver record amounts of aid and material to the army. they are in a better position than ever to show real success on the battlefield but it remains to be seen whether there can be a significant breakthrough. my guess is that this is going to be a l

chris murphy today tweeted so weird pga officials were in my office talking about how the saudi humanm about having a stake in sports. maybe their concerns weren't about human rights, end quote. is there any way to argue this was not about money? >> i can't see any way. this is an explanation. certainly not a justification. there was litigation going back and forth, we discussed that before. all of that is off the table, although technically the doj is still investigating the pga in terms of possible anti-trust violations but i assume that will go away in light of all this. when you look at it strictly from a monetary perspective, the pga can be wildly successful, the previous pga on its own terms. but those terms can never come close to the bottomless well of funds of the private investment fund the saudis run talking about hundreds of billions of dollars. so they could eventually just bleed all the players away from the pga or at least many of them and compromise the quality of the pga tour. as most golf fans know this doesn't affect the majors you can be a liv player and play in th
