i'm chris nguyen sitting in for cheryl jennings on our special roundtable episode today. let's move in now to another interesting issue -- asians in entertainment. so, lan, this first question goes to you. growing up, did you have any asian american role models on television that you can remember? >> i remember two, and i don't know if they were role models, per se, but people that i identified with. one was dustin nguyen of "21 jump street." >> mm-hmm. >> and two was connie chung, because those were the only asian people that i recall seeing on tv. and i watched a lot of tv. i learned english completely from tv. so those are my two. and, you know, i guess it impacted me to see somebody familiar to me on tv. i lived in houston growing up at a time when there weren't many vietnamese people in houston. i was kind of the token vietnamese kid in my class. i remember going to, like, target and hearing a vietnamese person speak, like, two aisles down. i would run out just to see them. and so i think it's important for young people to see other people like them in media as actor

in san jose, chris nguyen, abc7 news. >> a fire damaged a beloved church in huh bolt county and arson be the reason for this. the 50-year-old presbyterian church on maple street in garber ville burned for hours. witnesses say a man threw something from an rv in the middle of the night. the rv was damaged in the blaze. the sheriff's department says the fire is suspicious. there is no proof of arson at this point. no arrests therefore have been made. >> a day after explaining how its content moderateers are a crucial part of fighting counterterrorism, facebook is admitting some of those moderateers had their identities exposed. according to the guardian, a bug affected more than 12,000 moderateers and inadvertently exposed their identities to suspected terrorists. the moderateers were required to use their personal accounts while working. at least one moderator went into hiding after the breach. facebook says it made technical changes to fix the glitch. google is not having a great day either. according to the mountain view based company it is bracing for an antitrust fine, possibly 1 1

the one is actually about part of chris nguyen's story where do you find affordable housing in the bay where is the best place to buy a cheap house in the bay area? >> bad news, cheap houses don't exist in the bay area. here is the tried and true way to get the house you want. i grew up here. this is how it works. you buy outside of the bay area after a few years and you buildup a little equity. you sell that house and buy on the out skirts of the bay area. few years later you move closer to your goal finally you get the neighborhood you want to live in. it isn't fast. it takes time, but the appreciation here in the bay area makes all of this possible. all my friends from high school did this. >> the key is get in the game. >> get in the game. juliann aerks from alameda asks would it be cheaper to buy tickets at the box office or online? >> they trick you on this one. back in the day you avoided all the fees by buying at the box office in person. but no more, times have changed. sometimes you can get a deal by going to the box office. sometimes you can, but often you don't. i don't thi

i'm chris nguyen. let's start with a first look at the forecast. here's lisa argen, she's tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> hi, chris. the low fog on doppler 7 is something we won't see much of in the next couple of days. so we are looking at a comfortable start along the coast. even so, it is pretty warm out there. look at the east bay, 71 right now. 63 in oakland, 62 in hayward. you notice, the 50 are closer to the shore line. so with that, we have a heat advisory today from 11:00 to 11:00 on monday. then it becomes an excessive heat warning for your sunday. sunday is going to be warmer. >> so stay hydrated. there is a possibility of heat-related illnesses. so 50s, 60s and 70s by 7:00. noontime into the 90s already inland. by 4:00, a breezy day, 101 inland. we will see minor cooling as we go through the evening. it will be a rough couple of days. we will talk about the cooler day headed our way and when it arrives in the next seven in just a few minutes. chris. >> lace sa, thank you. >>> we will get back to our heat wave coverage in just a second

i'm chris nguyen in for carolyn tyler. let's start with a quick look at the weather with lisa argen who is tracking live doppler 7. >> chris, that's right. snow in the sierra. interesting weather today as we look at live doppler 7. looks rather normal, right? well, as we go into the north, you'll notice a rotation in the clouds here. the weather system bringing snow to the sierra nevada. 2 to 5 inches possible. to the beach we go. 58 in santa cruz and boy a, cool and breezy day here. 60s san jose and look at this. this is why. you can see the clouds in the mountains. it looks like january but we are looking at temperatures in the 40s for highs in south lake. 61 novato. the winds gusting to 30 miles an hour at the airport. 22 mile an hour gusts from oakland, mountain view, 25 mile an hour gusts for san carlo. your forecast calls for the temperatures to be in the 50s and 60s by noontime and the winds even stronger. the temperatures slightly cooler. could see even an isolated shower or thunderstorm here later on today. i'll gi

chris. timothy nguyen did not enter a plea this morning as his new attorney needs more time to look at his case file. nguyen is expected back here downtown on august 7 to enter a plea at that time. we did speak with the deputy district attorney who is prosecuting this case. he tells us there are fooiive victims, three boys, two girls ages 12 to 15. nguyen was arrested last thursday for allegedly spending sexually explicit texts to students while coaching them at the swim school in san jose. he would teach them about the sport of swimming and then progress to asking them for sexual favors and nude photos of the teens. there was never any sexual contact. he is faced with three charges for attempting to sway the witnesses and to tell them to keep quiet about the text and for molesting a minor. >> the community cares about active prosecution of any case where children are exposed to somebody in a position of authority and trust, who who exploits that position of authority and trust, so we make sure our kids are safe. >> reporter: it is our understanding that timothy nguyen worked at the quick silve
