i look at the fundamentals today, chris, and i see a strong economy. i see gdp growing at a very nice clip. wages, the lowest unemployment rate that we have seen in decades. the lowest ever for minority communities. to me, this is all very positive stuff, so when i see the crazy volatility in the markets, i wonder how much these algorithms are kind of getting ahead of themselves. not having a human being to say hey, things are okay. things are good. >> yet, but you have to remember, they are programmed by human beings. so i think sometimes, you are starting to see this mentality. we saw that. even throughout 2018, we saw four, five, six, moves up and down. we really accelerated this, once those production levels failed, now we have gone down to 20%. it seems the market is trying to find the bottom, but i think a lot of this volatility is exacerbated. this is not people sitting at home calling their brokers. this is definitely being driven by it -- the nature of the way that things are today. computerized trading, speed of light trading, you get that kind of volatility. i would watch t

and chris hughes joins me as well korks-chair of the economic security project and co-founder of facebook. we had a nice week. welcome to both of you. >> thank you. >> we had a lot of chances to talk about mississippi. it has got the highest rate of childhood poverty. the gender pay gap is much worse for women of color. the lowest median income in the country, highest rate of poverty in general in the country. tell me about this $1,000 a month. do you think it breaks these 16 women out of poverty or helps to do so? >> so, we think this $1,000 a month is much more than these 16 women. it's really about the piece that you just said, pointing out the inequalities that exist in the system. looking at mississippi and recognizing we have some radical differences that need to change within that state. and so for these 16 women it really is opportunity for us to test an idea, to really see, though, how do we go about changing our system and really getting to economic equality. looking at all of the factors that exist within inequality, whether or not it's across the gender lens or racial lens and saying we reco
