in san jose kris sanchez today in the bay. all right chris, thank you. marcus. we're going to turn now to a potential new gut punch for those struggling most to make it in the bay. with congress staring down a march 14th deadline to approve a new spending bill, health advocates are fearing drastic cuts to medicaid. today in the bay's ginger conejero saab joins us live from san francisco with a look at what's at stake. good morning ginger. good morning kira. will. congress took the first steppy kick starting talks by passing a budget framework along party lines last week. it calls for about $2 trillion in spending cuts. and while it does not lay out where exactly these cuts will be made, some expts believe that it cannot be met without significant cuts to medicaid because of how much it costs. now, medicaid is a last ditch option for coverage for roughly about 80 million poor and disabled americans, including millions of children. it's jointly paid for by states and the federal government. but it is one of the largest sources of federal spending, costing about $6

chris keen. i'm a resident of district eight. for 30 years i think which makes me old. >> and i've also been involved in a number of city projects like newtown square and slo sanchez and the recent renovation project for embarcadero plaza. but in my other life i've spent over 30 years running small and large software companies oftentimes coming in under very difficult circumstances when the existing leadership was being swapped out. >> and every single time i brought in cynthia di as the most trustworthy, most empathetic, kindest, intelligent person that i knew to come in and help me understand what was going on and what made her very unique was she was able to create relationships with and really listen to a wide variety of people. and again, very difficult and very time constrained environments and build trust with all of them and help us get to the best possible solution for those companies to get them back on track. i think that's what she can do in as well. so i would encourage you to vote for her please. >> thanks. >> hi. i just like to give some feedback on what i heard from these public comments. we have one person where the support i believe you know i don't

chris keene. i'm a resident of district eight valley and i was involved in a project there called noy valley town square and also promoting a slow street there called slow sanchez and about three years ago i got together with a friend of mine in noÉ valley, eric iceland who produces dear assaf and we started talking about how we could do something downtown that looked a little bit like north valley town square someplace that people could really get together someplace that really celebrated san francisco arts, food and culture. so we created a group called friends of embarcadero bricks and we got together with danny souder and many others and robbie and aaron and three years later here we are and this is just such a great example of how san francisco is a very unique place and people who really love it are constantly working for it in many different ways and every so often a hero rises up like aaron and be zippy and things become possible that are really incredible for this city. so i really hope that you'll honor that all of the work that's been done by all these great citizens and help us make the embarcadero plaza renovation a reality. >> thanks and thank you
