thank you very much, chris timmons.'m just hearing in my ear here that the jail has made it official. you're looking on your screen there. if you do a jail search, the defendants names come up and there you see the defendant's name, donald j. tr he has been booked and processed there in fulton county , georgia. and again, as the fulton county sheriff had said the former president has been treated as other defendants are d there. the same process and let's bring in john santucci, who has learned from at least one source. john, you believe a mugshot was, in fact, taken? >> david, i have been in touch with team trump, and i'm told by at least one senior adviser to the former president that is their understanding that a mugshot was taken of donald trump moments after he entered that fulton county jailhouse. david, i'm also told and we're showing on screen right now the details from the jail that to speed up the process. david, it's my understanding that some of the keyetails that most people are going through the process, t

joining our conversation is sara murray, katelyn polantz, and form er georgia prosecutor chri timmons. i'll start with you, chris. what is your take on why the former president chose this route this time? >> sure. waiver is the most traditional way that an arraigned is going to go. you're not going to waste an attorney's time. the alternative is what's re referred to as formal arraignment. i thought that former president trump might try to do formal arraignment, and that's the situation where the judge or the assistant district attorney reads the entire indictment into the record, and at the end of it, the defendant enters the plea and says not guilty. so here what benefit is he could have come in, had the indictment read, and then made a very dramatic statement of not guilty, perhaps leaning forward like he did in his mug shot. however, this is a 96-page indictment. so the former president would have had to sit there for almost two hours before he could have that dramatic moment and probably all the cameras are turn ed away. so there's no dramatic moment here unless you're hanging ou

>> joining us is chris timmons former trial attorney and prosecutor. and now, i wanted to ask you, because you knownknow better th anyone how this works, and can you give us a sense of how this is going to work being booked into that fulton county jail? >> yes, what happens is that typically you have someone come in and meet at the front desk and figure out what case they are associated with, and looking at the arrest warrant. after that, they are taken into the back where they are fingerprinted and mugshot, and usually some sort of medical assessm, and some additional administrative matters before they are taken to the holding tank and then moved to general population in the jail or released. >> it seems to happen very quickly and two people have gone in and one went in and at 10 or 15 minutes and out of the door, the bail bondsman who first turned himself in, and john eastman, the former trump attorney has also turned himself in. i wanted the ask you about some of the details of the trump bond order, and in the next 48 hours, he is expected to go thr

. ♪ >>> and joining us now for more on the georgia indictment against president trump is chris timmonsanks to you both for joining us. >> thank you. >> juju: chris, let me begin with you. we're looking at 41 felony counts, 91 pages. you called the indictment sweeping. when people think of rico, they think of it being used against mobsters. you specialized in georgia rico charges. what's the scope of the indictments? >> it's a big indictment. 98 pages takes a while to write. it will be a big trial when we get down to it. looking at it, it's not uncommon particularly in georgia, to charge public officials with the georgia rico statute. we don't have the traditional mafia in the state of georgia like they do in new york and other states, where the rico act is typically used. >> juju: sara, we're looking at 161 acts and furtherance of the details, tweets, reserving a room. rudy giuliani is 1 of 19 indicted and so is mark meadows, his former chief of staff. these are big names with a lot of charges against them. how serious are the charges given that there's so many coconspirators? >> it's
