earlier, i sat down with john roberts who is in for chris wallace on "fox news sunday." so much uncertain in egypt today. hutwo key guests from the senate to talk about the u.s. role -- should we have one? >> senator corker and senator reid. the one thing that is certain about egypt is the amount of uncertainty. beyond that, it's anybody's guess. they could name a new prime minister to take over without one of the parties who was supportive of morsi going, saying, no, we are not going to work with this guy. you have to pick somebody else. senators corker and reid both said the u.s. should be a calming influence over the region. now, they may be able to do that in terms of the egyptian military because we give them an awful lot of money. but there is a free for all between the anti-morsity and pro-morsi forces and how do you inject any kind of calming influence, particularly on the morsi side and islamic militants

joining us now is the anchor of fox news sunday, chris wallace.f this as we aweighed wait the jury verdict? >> i don't think there's politics in the sense of people running for office, but there certainly has been politics in terms of the public pressure brought to bear. i thought jonathan res report was interesting. the initial decision by law enforcement in sanford was not to prosecute george zimmerman. they were the people closest to the case, looked at all thed and said they didn't think they could prove beyond a reasonable doubt has he committed, zimmerman, second degree murder, and there were all the demonstrations, statements by the president, candidates, the state prosecutor, and the decision was made to prosecute him, but as we have seen over the last three weeks, this is not an open and shut case that george zimmerman committed murder. i think in fact people have been struck at relatively speaking how weak the case is for second degree murder. and to a certain degree there's been some vindication of the initial decision by law enforcemen

joining us now the anchor of fox news sunday, chris wallace. chris, the president's speech has become the lead story of the day. i'm hearing from both sides of the aisle, people saying they believe that this was risky. do you agree? >> no. i don't think so at all. i thought that president was trying to put this in context and to a certain degree he was trying to explain in a verdict that has been somewhat divisive in this country, why both sides feel the way they do. thought he talked in very personal terms about how it is when you're a young black man, and you're stopped for being black. whether it's people clutching-the-purse or somebody stopping you when you're in a store and you've done nothing except be black. on the other hand, i think he was saying to the black community, that this has been a fair trial, the jury had spoken, that's the way the system works, that to ask in any violent fashion would be to dishonor the wishes and the behavior of the trayvon martin family, and i thought, as wendell said, he put it in a realistic context. ther

lou: i was shocked to see jack lew reviews to answer the question of chris wallace about the investigation of the irs as to whether or not they had talked with chief counsel and irs, one of two that is a confirmation job. are you shocked that he would not? i mean, is it vexing national media to be enough for today because the treasury secretary refused to answer a direct question. the public has been affronted, have they not? be my guest, but clearly he is playing a political game that he doesn't want to get ahead of any investigation. lou: he is a careful man meant yes, he is very but i think the fact that he is circumspect as evidence that he wants to avoid any legal trouble himself. he was the chief of staff so you never know where his finger might be found in us. so we have to take that into account. he could be a player in this game as well. but i will say that from your expectations of the media, wake up. lou: thank you so much. i will try to gain consciousness of this. we're going to have much more on the president's bullying language that is shocking throughout the broadcast here t

i will give credit to chris wallace who yesterday basically weighed in and said, wait a second. a very different take on the president's response. and his comments. which i give him tremendous credit for being able to do that in the atmosphere that fox creates. >> the problem is that much of fox, not all of fox. and certainly most of talk radio is appealing to really what joy mentioned in your prior segment. there is unfortunately a part of that audience that has an irrational fear about black, social and political progress. of course the president is the personification of that. they are feeding and tapping into that. for their own cynical motives. >> you know, finally, i do want to say, again, what is so destructive about what the conservatives are doing here is again stifling what should be a conversation that they should want to be a part of, frankly, not try to pretend that there is not a problem and we don't need it. the president really tried to, he was really trying to take us to a better place. and he said it in a positive place. kind of looking at the next generation.
