meteorologist chris warren is with us from weather channel headquarters. look at that you've got on the screen, chris. good evening. >> good evening to you, too, brian. we are talking about snow. the reason the leaves still on the trees is important. we expect a heavy, wet snow and a lot of it. when it lands on the leaves it weighs down the branches. you get the branches snapping, falling on power lines and knocking out power. when it's all said and done by sunday, millions of people could be in the dark. let's look now at the timing as this area of low pressure moves up the east coast, starting up in the morning on saturday into the afternoon. most areas seeing the snow will be inland locations away from the water. that changes overnight saturday to sunday morning. and when it's all said and done, the next two days, the inland locations from central pennsylvania to central massachusetts could see more than a foot of snow. new york city, we're looking at two to four inches but the closer you are to the water it's going to be a matter of miles where you get

we're joined by san jose's police chief, chris warren. chief warren, nice to see you. you took over earlier this year with the official title. are you surprised by all of this? >> we had 20 homicides last year, all of calendar 2010, and obviously the number we're at right now is just too high. for a city of a million people, that number is relatively low and we'll do our best to keep that number down. our gang homicides number 15, and i think we'll try to keep it as low as we possibly can. it doesn't help if you're one of those 15 family members, it's very, very difficult. but i don't see it necessarily as being a trend. i hope not. what we are seeing, though, is a trend towards more violence towards police officers. and that's not just here in san jose, that's across the country. >> let me show you some of the numbers now. we're talking about trends. we'll put up some of the numbers. 28 in terms of 2009. 20 last year and so far at 34. you're a smart guy. you're highly educated. what's the game plan here. i know budgets are diminishing, but what's your plan looking for
