i'm chris wragge. the forecast with vanessa coming up in just a moment. >>> but, first, a suspect is under arrest this morning for the forcible touching of young boys in the bronx. 37-year-old greg boyden who lives in the borough is set to be arraigned later this morning. most of the incidents happened in the park on baychester avenue. police say he was the same man seen on surveillance around the time of the four incidents that have been tied to him. >>> connecticut police say they've identified a female suspect in the attempted abduction of a teenager in bridgeport. cameras captured the 17-year- old girl jumping out of a car to escape on monday. police found that car in new haven last night. investigators say the woman lure the girl into a car as she walked to school. now, police say the teen was assaulted, though the nature of the assault is unclear. the girl was not seriously hurt. >>> happening today, a first- ever summit on k-2 and other synthetic drugs in new york gets under way at jacoby medica

i am chris wragge. >> and i am mary calvi. traffic and weather on the 2s in a moment. >>> but we begin with break news as police track down two men following a hit-and-run accident on the upper east side. >> the left one person injured. andrea grymes has the story. >> reporter: the victim's car in this hit-and-run is still running and on the scene here on up ther east side. police say after 2:00 this morning, a 62-year-old man was unloading packages from the pack of his car here at madison avenue and east 80th street when another car hit him. police say the car with two people inside initially drove off but cops tracked them down on the upper west side, on west 71st street. they say the victim was taken to the hospital with leg trauma but is expected to survive. as for the two people in the car that hit him, they're two men in their 30s and they are now in custody and police say charges are pending. reporting on the upper east side, andrea grymes, cbs 2 news. >>> a commuter alert. the jersey turnpike just re- opened moments ag

i am chris wragge. >> and i am mary calvi. we will have traffic and weather on the 2s in a moment. >> but first, breaking news. >>> a raging fire strikes a building in chelsea this morning. >> ilana gold is live from the scene. >> reporter: mary, the fire is burning on west 17th street. take a look at the scene. right now, you can see the thick, heavy smoke is pouring from the top levels of the building. crews have been out here for an hour dousing the building with water and trying to get this under control. we want to show you video from 3:00 this morning. it is burning between 7th and 8th avenues. the flames have been intense, shooting from the top three floors and through the roof. we talked to officials onscene and they tell us the the building has been under construction. they say no one was living here and there were no injuries or evacuations but it's an extremely heavy fire and right now crews are trying to stop it from spreading to nearby buildings. and back out here live where the neighborhood is filled with thick,

i'm chris wragge. john will have the forecast in a moment. >>> we are tracking hurricane joaquin in coastal communities and they are not taking chance. the city of lange beach has been putting up sand dunes to prevent possible flooding. the storm is picking up strength and some models show it heading our way. and with more on that, john elliott. >> good morning. the numbers now, it's a category three storm. winds at 120 miles per hour moving west, southwest at 5 miles per hour. and that will quickly change. and we anticipate more strengthening and could be a category four by friday afternoon. and making more of a turn to the north and then the northwest. still a category two off the coast of north carolina. yesterday there was a lot of agreement that it would make that turn in now some models putting it farther to the east. mindful of the risk to our neighbors to the south. but it could have more of an impact in our area and that would be sunday into monday, possibly as late as tuesday. and now today u

i am chris wragge. >> police say it started with a fight that quickly got out of hand. diane macedo is live from the scene in downtown brooklyn with an update. >> reporter: chris and mary, police say this happened around 6:00 last night in front of this applebee's here on flat. >> bush avenue near dekalb avenue. a friend says he stopped to get encountered another group and then he heard gunshots. this video shows a number of teens running down the street, down the sidewalk on flatbush avenue toward the fight. and seconds later, the group scatters and you can see one victim shot in the ankle and the other hops away. another victim wasn't so lucky. the gunshots wednesday off and friend says he tried to help but no luck. the friend actually says that the victim who was shot died many his arms. police identify the victim as 16-year-old armani hankins. they say he was pronounced dead at brooklyn hospital. and a second man was shot in the ankle. they are still searching for the shooter and asking anyone with information to come forward. live in downtown brooklyn, diane macedo,

i'm chris wragge. john elliott a moment. >>> police are searching for a woman who lived in an apartment at the center of a buildings explosion over the weekend. one woman is gone. one woman does killed when the building burst into flames on saturday. at least a dozen other people were hurt. dozens more were left homeless. the investigation is zeroing in on the one apartment where a store may have been improperly removed. >>> a south korea nyu student is free after being released from north korea. 21-year-old wong joo was arrested in april for entering north carolina illegally crossing the chinese order. joo was handed over at a truce village this morning at the border with south korea. >>> new video captures the rescue of a man thrown out of his jet ski in manasquan. a coast guard training mission was flying over and saw a jet ski with no one on it and then spotted the man. they were able to pull hill to safety. the man was exhausted but not seriously injured. >>> here's john elliott with your forecast
