joining me is cnn's christiane amanpour, who definitely knows the kennedys well. maybe we can talk about it in a second, but what really caught my attention this morning, we talked about who can we bring in to talk about pushing forward with the kennedy legacy. he did so much overseas, he had quite a global impact, and you have travel probably to every country that he did make an impact. what stands out to you? >> well, he did. although he was a lion in the u.s. senate and was so instrumental so much for the reforms to the people of this country, he also did have a huge impact overseas and tributes are pouring in from all over the world. remember back in 1985 he introduced a bill for sanctions against then apart tied south africa and that sort of launched the real tidal wave of momentum that then brought down aybparthd several years later. long tributes from south africa coming in at the moment. an area close to america's heart, that is ireland, his heritage, he was very instrumental in bringing the two tieds together in the northern alliance peace process. he'd b

just before the break, we ran part of christiane amanpour's documentary, generation islam.nessed firsthand the struggle for the young boys in afghanistan with few paths to choose from, sometimes ending up in schools or madrassehs known to feed the taliban. how can these children be bodied down a nonviolent and productive path? joining us from chicago is the executive director of the interfaith youth corps. a chance to see christiane's documentary and take part in it. look at the challenge, especially the median age of people is 17 years old. unemployment is 40% or higher. what are specifically the challenges especially for muslim youth in afghanistan to find a way to be productive, to earn a living, and to be a contributing member of society? >> right. well, kiran, i think the first challenge is how we view the young people. they can become medical doctors or suicide bombers. the road they take has everything to do with the education that they get -- the mentoring that they get. which is why organizations like mine, the interfaith youth corps are working all over the world
