christie is not new to this fight. >> reporter: that's right. he met with president trump last month. later this morning he will be at the white house to be part of a round table discussion on opioid abuse. a white house official said earlier this week that the governor would work on an opioid task force. the governor has indicated that his final year in office would be dedicated to reducing heroin and prescription drug addiction here in the garden state. and last month, he signed legislation to include a five-day limit on first-time opioid prescriptions and a requirement for insurance to cover six months of substance abuse treatment. earlier this month, the governor also took part in the opening of a drug treatment facility in south jersey. before he heads to washington, the governor is scheduled to be on the "today" show. you can watch that here on nbc10. coming up at 5:30, a different matter that plagued the christie administration, the bridgegate scandal. two of his former aides are scheduled to be sentenced today. we'll look ahead to that.
