christie smith is live where two people were killed in marin city. , you just spoke to one of the victims's family members? >> yes. ne believe the whole thing stems from a domestic dispute and now two men are dead. i just spoke with a woman who identified herself as the mother of one of the victims. a 29-year-old. now the coroner has yet to release the names. but according to family, that young man and a father-in-law went to help a young woman in a domestic dispute here on coal drive when the situation erupted this morning. marin county sheriff deputies started getting calls about an altercation. when they arrived they say they saw two men mortally wounded. >> i'm trying to figure it out, it's like being in a nightmare that i just can't wake up from. because my son wasn't supposed to die on the streets like that. he wasn't a part of the streets. >> now investigators say they also received word about a man running way from the scene and caught up with him and he had been shot. they are still trying to determine though what his role might be in all thi

nbc bay area's christie smith is live at the scene with the latest. you said this is a very active scene? >> reporter: that's right. i can tell you the medical exercise just arrived. i did speak with a san francisco police sergeant who gave me information, he says this unfolded when traffic was backed up here before 3:00 on fillmore and in the fast food parking lot when someone came up to this car that's sitting here and opened fire on the passenger side, hitting the passenger, who jumped out they say over the driver's side to try and get away from the shooter. they say that man fell on the sidewalk here at fillmore by golden gate and that the suspect took off on foot and may have gotten in a car to get away. the victim we're told was taken to the hospital where police say they were later informed he died of his injuries. this happened right across the street from the northern police station. just literally across the street. police calling this very bold and brazen, this shooting. there are cameras on the block and police are checking tape. they do s

nbc bay area's christie smith is live in front of this building. pretty bad news for former tenants. it's been a year now. what's happened to them? >> reporter: well, you know, i spoke with one former resident. he tells me his plan all along wases to try and come back to the mission district but now it looks like that hope may be fading fast. he says he's been getting help with temporary housing since the fire but building inspectors ordered the building at 22nd and mission to be demolished. it was damaged in a fast-moving fire last january and now there's concern in a moderate earthquake it might collapse. that means dozens of tenants may lose their right to return even if new units are built. went-controlled units can come back. after demolition, those rules may not apply. one supervisor says he's trying to understand and help tenants. >> we're trying to understand that and we're trying to understand how the order of demolition is issued to see if there is a way that it could be issued so that it's not -- so that the rights of the tenant are prot

nbc bay area's christie smith is in brisbane this evening. christie a lot of layers to the story including the link to the body parts found under the dumbarton bridge. what's the latest? >> reporter: i can tell you that investigators tonight from two different police departments say there is a strong likelihood that the remains found near fremont may be shelley titchener. investigators were back at it the same area again earlier today. friends and neighbors leave flowers and cards outside the brisbane home that two police agencies searched. >> it was very shocking. two doors away from your house when there's something scary as that. >> reporter: shelley titchener was reported missing february 15th by her husband paul who days later took his own life by jumping off the bay bridge. then on sunday, the grim discovey of a torso near fremont. investigators say they also found other items that might connect the two cases. and search crews were back out looking again today. >> we feel fairly confident and strongly that it is likely shelley. but we ju
