christie smith joins from us sfo where they arrived about 90 minutes ago. the poor people on that flight. >> reporter: jae and i have to say after all that there was a real sense of relief from passengers after an 11 and hour flight. nearly three extra hours tacked on. this is a flight from frankfurt to sfo that as you said circled around the bay. we spoke with passengers as they arrived late this amp at sfo who it people waiting for hours to pick them up trying to get information about the flight. surprised to find it was sitting in oakland. passengers tell us the fog was thick in san francisco. the plane seemed to want to land and then went up. circled around point reyes repeatedly. where they sat on the ground in oakland for more than an hour and refueled finally got the green light to come back to sfo. >> i can't even add it up. we did four or five tours around the bay waiting to land. got halfway in and then took off again. >> i don't think they wanted to irk isle anymore because they didn't have fuel. we sat on the tarmac in oakland and got refueled.
