ktvu's christien kafton joins us now with the latest on this case. good afternoon, christian. >> reporter: well, good afternoon. this is the gas station where this whole car theft and kidnapping investigation got underway. take a look right here. you can see if you take a look here through the window that there are a pair of police officers in there. they are bringing back tape. they had those this morning, trying to dub them over looking for clues about their suspect. police say the victim and his daughter pulled into this gas station this morning. the father got out of the car to pay, left his five-year-old daughter in a car and that is when a mini van pulled up alongside and the unthinkable happened. one of the suspects from that vehicle gets out and gets into his cadillac. our victim had left his keys in the car and the suspect takes his car and then was last seen driving on to carlton boulevard. >> investigators say the father immediately called 911 but he was so distraught it took a while for dispatchers to figure out exactly what had happened.
