christien kafton is at the pittsburg walmart with all the activity that happened in the store parking lot. christien. >> reporter: the sun is coming up now. we are getting a clear look at our crime scene and getting new information about the vehicle that apparently was used in this shooting here. the crime scene tape at this walmart parking lot is still up at this hour. we have seen a lot of security patrolling the area here. investigator looking for the gunman that opened fire in this parking lot. the victim was shot right here in this area. that man was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his face and leg. 911 calls rolled in around 11:00 last night that shots had been fired in the parking lot. witnesses say a victim was on the bicycle and a car started chasing them through the parking lot. the shooter fired five or six rounds. people living in the area told me this morning they are surprised to hear about that shooting. >> sr. sur -- very surprised. usually nothing like that happens here. >> reporter: coming back out to the live shot, you can

christien kafton, ktvu channel 2 news. >> near fort collins residents are heading home after another fire. coming up, the damage cost from the high park fire. >>> bart service is back to normal after delays earlier this afternoon caused by a man wandering on the tracks. officials say it was stopped around noon in san francisco and at the west oakland station. a person was walking on the tracks in oakland prompting officials to turn off the electricity. police say the man was smoking a controlled substance. he was arrested. service was stopped for an hour. other trains were delayed 30 minutes. >>> police chase this morning ended with a crash and the suspect in the hospital. witnesses say it started when officers tried to pull over a stolen car around 1:00 a.m. instead of stopping the driver sped off, up 73. that is when he lost -- that is when he lost control and crashed. he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. >>> authorities are trying to determine what sparked a apartment fire this morning. firefighters rushed to the buildings. squatters have been known to stay in the bui

christien kafton is there to tell us more. what do you though?irefighters and pg&e are on the scene working -- working to put this fire out. if you look to the left, you can see the major obstacle they are fighting. take a few steps around the corner. take a look. you can see that pg&e crews have an excavator to pinch off the line so they can stop the fuel that's feeding this fire. let's go to video that we shot earlier. the fire started here in martinez at about 4:00 this morning. martinez fire says they had it under control by about 4:40. but you can still see the flames coming out of the gas line. again, at this point they are saying there's very little danger. they say it's similar to having the gas on at your home. the gas is coming up and burning off. it's very much like a stove at your house, just a much bigger scale. >> we have a hose line on it. we're just monitoring it and making sure that the flames didn't make any issues. we've learned that that house was involved in a hour -- this house was known as the -- at the christmas house this

however, christien kafton, who is in berkeley right now, says there's still some doubt as to whether this will go to a public vote. what's going ton, christian? >> reporter: just about four minutes ago, i got off the phone with one of the members. you can see a person sitting on the sidewalk here in berkeley. the proposed ballot measure would outlaw sitting and lying in the city of berkeley on the sidewalks here. even though the council did vote last night on the issue and did vote to put the issue on the november ballot, it's still unclear when and if voters will have their say on the vote on the issue. we shot this video this morning. this is what sit-lie is aimed to do, reduce the number of homeless. last night, the council meeting ended with chaos when those opposed to the mayor drowned out tom bates. christien kafton has more. >> reporter: firefighters began to roll in around 3:30 and by the time they arrived, the building was engulfed in flame. it only took about 40 minutes to contain. but there was another problem. >> woe have a hose line on it -- we have a hose line on it. it's just burning itself up as it comes up to the ground. we're just monitoring it and making sure the flames don't create any more issues. >> reporter: by 8:0, pg&e drews -- by 8:30 pg&e crews had pinched it off to cut off the flow of gas. this is the second fire to weapon through this home this year. the fire this morning finished the job from january. sharon ross said workers were told to demolish the house but could not until pg&e removed the gas meter. she said -- she said that happened -- >> we apologize for the technical problems that made the audio very hard to hear from that report. >>> meanwhile a saratoga home suffers a lot of -- a lot of damage from a fire. no one was inside. the home was vacant, possibly due to a remodeling project. the flames had fully engulfed the house by the time firefighters

ktvu christien kafton is in pittsburg this morning. christien. >> reporter: good morning. investigators here in pittsburg looking for the gunman that opened fire. there is still police tape in this parking lot. this is the walmart apartment on leverage road here. investigators looking for whoever opened fire in this area of the parking lot. the victim was shot right here in this area. that man was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to john mere medical center with a gunshot wound to his face and leg. 911 calls started rolling in at 11:00 last night that shots had been fired at the parking lot here on leverage road. the victim was on a bicycle and a car began chasing him around the parking lot before opening fire. witness say the shooter fired at least five or six rounds and we'ring again that victim was struck multiple times. at this time police have not released information about the victim or his condition and have not released a suspect or vehicle description. coming back to our live shot you can see there is a security car that has been rolling around the parking lot

christien kafton has more. >> reporter: yes, witnesses are saying this shooting happened right here on the street. we're right next to the jack london regal cinemas. witnesses say five people were shot. witnesses say there was a flurry of gunfire. >> all i can tell you is five people were shot by gunfire. so far, nobody has any life- threatening injuries. it's an ongoing investigation. nobody is in custody. >> reporter: the gunfire started around 9:20 last night. as you heard, someone opened fire, hitting a total of five people, one male victim of that shooting required surgery. the three of the victims did not wait around for ambulances and were taken to children's hospital in oakland in private vehicles. witnesses say when the gunfire started, there was a crush of people trying to get out at once. >> when it first started, people were getting trampled. it was a really bad thing that happened today. >> reporter: we just had an oakland police cruiser go by the area. again we're waiting for a vehicle description or a suspect description. once we get the information, we'll be sure to pas
