christina joins us. good morning, christina. >> good morning, scott. are you cold this morning? >> i was on the way in. >> i don't believe it. i don't believe it for a second. he can withstand anything. we are looking pretty good this morning. it is a little chilly, especially in the north bay where we are at 33 degrees right now in santa rosa. if you are going to be headed from the east bay up to the north bay, give yourself extra time. take it easy out there. certainly cold enough for black ice over the bridges and overpasses in the north bay. and even in the east bay this morning where temperatures are at 36 degrees you will find frost on that windshield. we are dealing with patchy frost and fog this morning. most of the fog is towards the peninsula, if you are going to be headed to san mateo, san francisco, just watch out for reduced visibilities. probably until 9:00 a.m. and if you are leaving before 8:00 a.m., yeah, you need to get the frost off the windshield. later on today lots of sunshine, temperatures mostly in the 50s. rain on the way. and a lot of snowfall associate

let's go to christina loren and the chilly forecast. >> good morning to you. we're looking so good this morning. except for the places that have the 30s to contend with. 37 degrees in santa rosa, 50 in san francisco, 42 in san mateo, and 31 degrees in gilroy. i do believe that gilroy, napa and santa rosa will see temperatures at or near freezing. we've got clear skies out there. that's a good thing because we need those clear skies for a beautiful sunny day later on today. but take a look at something that's been absent from the forecast. it is back, the marine layer. it's not going to reach the coast. it's pushing back out to sea as high pressure is still in control. that means for us, temperatures right around 60 degrees today, you'll need the sunglasses but there's big time changes on the way. we've got a big system on the way. you want to know what's on the roads. >> there you go. talking about cooling down and chilling out. we have folks on the side of the road. eastbound highway 4, there was an earlier accident, no injuries but it is bay point over to pi

"today in the bay's" marla tellez is live at regional medical center in san jose with what you can do to try to help find the driver. >> reporter: good morning, brent. yes, 18-year-old erica luna is here at the region mall regional medical center in san jose. she has a broken pelvis and internal injures after being hit and dragged for hundreds of feet. this all happened sunday morning about 2:30 when her family tells us she was crossing the street near fontane road near 101 and toll tulle road. the driver was described driving a silver minivan or suv and took off. meanwhile doctors tell the luna family because of her injuries she may never walk again. her older brother jose is desperate for justice. >> didn't he hear my sister screaming or something? there's no reason not to stop. you are not a home if you don't stop. >> reporter: the luna family spent yesterd

we are ek checking in with christina. here's a look at the forecast. >> we are looking really good this morning. we've got a steady stream of showers pushing onshore right now. two cores of low pressure impacting what we have here. let me show you the first one. the cold front extend all the way from the northern-most portion of the yet. it looks like we have a cold front extending all the way from canada dragging all this moisture through our area, but it is also lifting up to the north. so what's going to happen is as we head throughout the day today all this moisture is going to lift to the north along with it. so right now most of the shower activity is coming down over the south bay. places like gilroy are getting hammered pretty hard right now. san jose is facing shower activity. a lot of this is evaporating before hitting the ground. we have the moisture creeping up now from the south to the north impacting the peninsula. redwood city is seeing the first showers of the morning to continue to progress and lift to th

as christina mentioned there is a break in the storm system here.t raining but we're giving you a live look as the waves come rolling in. already breaking against the rocks. i spoke to the national weather service. a high surf advise have i scheduled to go into effect at 7:00 this morning with waves expecting to break at 15 to 20 feet. the biggest expected at sunrise. high tide usually happens about 10:00 a.m. so that's when you can expect more active shoreline. today is different because so called king tides are expected. those are essentially extreme high tides. they happen only about twice a year and today through friday it's your chance to look at those. the bay area's coastlines are likely to produce king tides. it's tied to rising sea levels. coastal flooding could happen today -- excuse me while i get my hair out of my mouth. you head down to your lowell beach you could i'm going to say use caution. the weather service says that you need to be careful along the scoreline. it's not advised to do this. if you want to check out the high tides, k
