good morning, christina. >> good morning. yeah, you might want to dress in layers because the sun will be out for the second half of the day. it is chilly out there right now but we're expecting a couple of 70s, especially up in the north pay. here it is, low pressure, this is what brought us all the rain over the past few days. a pretty well-defined, well-organized system to push through this time of the year. you can see right now it's still creating quite a bit of rainfall for people in southern california whereas we're getting a break in the north bay and we'll continue to see that trend to the south. by 11:00 a.m. mostly clear, a few breaks of sunshine over the bay area. that's what we're expecting. as i zoom in for you, you can see most of the shower activity has really started to wind down along the peninsula and in the north bay a couple of cells are creeping onshore but overall we're getting a chance to really dry out. our next focus would be the fog. we do believe some fog will develop over our bridges the next coup

christina loren knows more on how the tornadoes are formed. >> yeah. the reason why we are seeing that here in california, in my scientific belief is that we have this really strong temperature difference for us out there. the warm air from the spring has settled into california. we have a really, really cold system, cold, dry system dropped in. it originated in the golf of alaska. that's how cold it was. they came together and collided. take a look at what happened. this is the outcome. seven tornadoes touched down. two in chico, one in paradise, one in hamilton and one in willo willows. take a look at how close the one in willows was to the i-5 corridor. they are going to go out and survey the damage. it happened from one supercell. usually, when we see the cell producers, we see amounts of hail. it's only 30% of the time that you actually see a tornado out of it. this is even rarer for supercells. here is what happens. you have the warm, moist air on one side. you have the cold, dry air. you take a pencil and twist it between. the two produce theati

pleasanton is where christina and bob are this morning. in a half hour, the speeds will dip on westbound 580. westbound highway 4, 72 will dip down over 20 minutes. we'll see it come down into the 40s and 20s. it's a dramatic change. eastbound, the construction has a full closure from loveridge to somersville. it's going on until the 20th, i believe. it will be opened by 5:30. no major issues. it's opposite the main commute. a vehicle was blocking the left lane toward 680. 680 moves slowly off the bridge. if you are using the parks, check the website to get the latest on that. we are looking at the carquinez bridge through hercules. we'll follow that and i'll let you know the latest. just an 18 minute drive off the bridge, across the bay to the bay bridge. a look at the toll plaza. clear view, you can see the east shore freeway with clouds hanging out. fog not an issue. clearly, heat is going to be a factor. coming up northbound with the headlights, this the 880, the nimitz freeway. no slowing around the san mateo bridge. the volume is lig
