good morning, mike. >> good morning, christina. not a great morning as far as those conditions for driving and that's why we're watching for any spinouts. now it's starting to clear up but we see the volume building up. we do have reports of something in the roadway so be careful there and also reports of slick conditions throughout, so sheen on the roadway here. farther south, 880 through fremont passing the tesla plant towards mission and that's where we're looking right here. an easy drive and the roads a little drier but still the potential for spinouts. earlier accident at dixon landing road should have cleared from the roadway. the green overlay highlighting on the map shows you where you might have some wetter roads. christina was talking about that mix of snow and rain heading toward mt. hamilton. the pink shows you where there might be slippery conditions because of that. and over here at the 280/880 interchange, there was no overnight construction because of overnight rains, but we do have a construction project to talk b

christina, i guess the question is, when should we expect storm number two? >> we have this unsettled pattern, jon and marla. we're already starting to see some prefrontal precipitation. want to start with this live picture over san jose although we're mostly dry in the south bay right now. you can see this camera has a shake to it. you can tell that a storm is rolling in. this is your brief break before the heavy rain returns. we'll time that out for you. what you will notice is we have very light showers moving from north to south at this point. that's going to continue to be the case throughout the next few hours. the bulk of the moisture doesn't arrive until tonight. winds are certainly picking up especially the areas closest to that front, wind gusts in excess of 47 miles per hour from time to time. just off the coast of sonoma county. that storm system is slowly making its way towards the bay area. but it will take time before it arrives. we are concerned about our major reiss on the river. you want to watch the creeks and the streems. if you live near

fairfield and vacaville, as christina said. live look at the peninsula side new york city escape there. this is just south of university where i can still make out the cars on the roadway, but north of here heading up toward menlo park and north of 92 on basically both sides of the bay, we do have very thick fog, so use caution and lower the speeds. allow extra time, folks. back to you. >> good advice, especially on the heels of this story, mike. a deadly weekend on california roadways claimed 27 lives, including six from the bay area. one of those deadly crashes happened saturday night on highway 50 near placerville when the driver of a prius swerved into the path of a minivan. three members of a bay area family in the prius died. a 4-year-old girl from placerville in the minivan was killed. five others were hurt in that crash with minor to serious injuries. investigators are looking into the cause of that crash. >> there is no information leading to any impairment of that driver. >> witnesses say a deer might have run out int

we'll leave that to meteorologist christina loren. >> good morning to you. i have a pretty good handle on your forecast. i know it's a very busy weekend, a lot of people trying to get shopping done or you might be taking your travel plans into action. if you have family coming this way, make sure they're ready for the rain as well. all across the state of california this morning we're seeing these showers. it looks like the core of low pressure is going to cross just over us as we head throughout the next 24 to 36 hours. so we're about 58 minutes away from steady rainfall here in san jose. 47 minutes away from steady rainfall in sunnyvale. and about 40 minutes -- and 18 minutes away from places like portola valley. showers are now just starting to develop. it was relatively dry overnight and we've got a lot more rain on the way. you can see the steady batch quickly approaching the coastline. as we head throughout the day at that, temperatures are going to be a little bit on the mild side. 57 degrees. close to 60 in sunnyvale. we're at 55 in san jose, 51 degr

thank you, christina. >>> it's 4:47. two people are dead, four others hospitalized after eating wild poisonous mushrooms. they were in a soup served in an assisted living facility near sacramento. the woman who made the soup is a caregiver there and also one of the four people that got sick. investigators say she didn't know the wild mushrooms were poisonous. some neighbors even cut the mushrooms down as a precaution. >> these button mushrooms, or even the great bigged to stools that are real big, you can't eat those. those are poisonous. we cut them down here at our place because the dogs get them and they can get sick. >> the california department of public health has warned against eating wild mushrooms for years an every year hundreds of people get sick or die after eating mushrooms they have picked themselves. >>> a scary scene in this next story. the faa trying to figure out why a southwest plane from oakland slid right off the track in denver right off that runway. we have pictures posted on twitter by a passenger

meteorologist christina loren has your forecast. but we start things off with monte francis, who is live in san anselmo where creeks and rivers are at risk of flooding big-time. monte, good morning. >> reporter: well, jon, good morning. that's right, here in san anselmo they are always ready for a big storm. that's because there's a creek that runs through the center of town and it has been known to flood so the city has made sandbags and sand available to residents free of charge in preparation for the storm which is expected to start tomorrow. last time there was a problem with flooding here was in 2008, but the real devastating flood was in december of 2005 when the san anselmo creek flooded the streets of downtown san anselmo and many local businesses were under water. the reason this next storm is a concern here is because here in the north bay they're expecting 4 inches of rain during a matter of several days and those are exactly the kinds of conditions that can be trouble for san anselmo. the town is doing what it can do to
