according to christina loren, visibility is down to less than 200 feet in some areas. the fog is along 680 and the sunol grade. also on the san mateo and dumbarton bridges. it is expected to be the thickest at sun rise, so that's the heart of the commute. drive accordingly. the worst thing you can do is turn on the high beams. that only makes visibility worse. so use your low beams and fog lights today. of course, you are going to want to reduce your speed, slow it down and drive slower than you typically do. it is misting out. use your wipers to help with the visibility issue. and in the thickest areas this morning, always use the right edge of the road as a guide. and a dense fog advisory is posted for much of the bay area through 11:00 this morning. now, as far as the airports are concerned, san jose international is reporting delays because of the fog. some flights heading to denver this morning are delayed just over an hour. as for sfo and oakland, no fog-related delays to report just yet, but always a good idea to check with the air carrier before you head to the

i want to get you moving with a look at the forecast with christina loren. >> it's easier to move when it's not bitter cold. that is the case in places like san francisco, 55. 52 in san mateo. a little cooler in gilroy at 36. i think gilroy will be one of the warmest cities in all of the bay area. the capital warming up to 72. gilroy's expected to be at 64, 60 in san jose and 60 in santa cruz. you will notice the temperature around noon in fairfield and napa still on the cool side. a lot of low cloud cover from the san joaquin valley. it's going to prevent the sunshine from coming in as strong. so temperatures aren't expected to be as warm in the north. 70 degrees in los gatos and 69 in redwood city. the extended forecast is on the way. we'll let you know when we expect rain showers. let's check your traffic with mike inouye. >> good morning. you know the fog is going to cause slowing. keep that in mind in the east bay. to an east bay accident, no major fog off the dumbarton bridge. an accident reported on the embankment. that's under that central avenue sign there for the chevy dealer

we start off with christina loren. is it true? is it going to be balmy? >> i don't think balmy is the proper word, but i was right about the 63 yesterday. i'm glad i amped up the temperatures. it was a mild day. places near santa cruz ended up at 68 degrees. we had 63 in san jose and morgan hill was 63 and 65 was the big winner for the bay area in saratoga. we start out mild, not as mild as it was yesterday. temperature-wise towards the low 60s and a few showers to the north. we will let you know if you can expect that coming up. >> the showers may affect the drive. things tend to slow down. what we are looking at right now, an accident that took place overnight, but there might be activity. chp is on scene a car went into a ditch by san bruno avenue. you might see flashing lights and a distraction. keep that in mind. the travel on 101 moving smoothly into the city and north of 92. north and southbound 101 on a normal schedule. we will slow around 7:00 or 7:30, we will see good slowing starting early. over to you. >> it's 5:02 and a funeral will be held f

and according to our christina loren, visibility is down to less than 200 feet in some parts of the bay area. and it is expected to be the thickest at sunrise, so really in the heart of the morning commute. you do need to drive accordbly accordingly. the worst thing you can do in fog is turn on your high beams. use your low beams and fog lights today. slow it down, drive slower than you usually do. and we had to use our wipers as we made our way up 101 this morning because of the due dew and mist in the air. and in the thickest areas this morning, always use the right edge of the road as a guide. now, we have a dense fog advisory posted through 11:00 this morning. i checked the airports this morning, so far no flight delays to report, but, of course, that could change at any given moment. so if you do have a flight to check this morning, go ahead and call in to check with your airline to see if the fog is going to delay you. and how about an interesting fog fact this morning according to wikipedia. one of the foggiest land areas in the world is in the bay area, but it is not san francis
