meteorologist christina loren tracking a system coming in from the bay area. you had predicted this. >> yeah, you know, it's a good thing it's showing up, right? that's what we like to happen. sunol showing you a mostly cloudy sky at this hour. san francisco getting a little bit a break, little sunshine. this is the most you will get throughout the remainder of the day, the clouds steadily increasing now as the storm system gets closer to the bay area, and what i love about this system, a couple things. first and foremost, it's maintaining its organization. you can see that counterclockwise rotation and also looks like we're going to start to see the sub tropical moisture tap develop. let me show you what that means when it comes to rainfall where you live. we stop the clock on your future cast. the light stuff starts first up in the north bay and at the coast about 7:00, spreading south overnight, but by 10:00 p.m., you can see getting some of that sub tropical moisture tap and rich moisture, which will move into the south bay by 1:00 a.m. and continue throug

let's get right to meteorologist christina loren with rainfall totals. i think i was in the one single pocket that didn't get any actual measurable rain. >> you know, that's what happens sometimes around the bay area. makes my job a little difficult with all those various microclimates to forecast for. it's a big bay area, as well, and look at how much variance we have when it comes to your totals. the highest came in from the south bay. almost an inch of rain, and we have more on the way throughout the next couple hours. showers are clearing, but now we have a chance for thunderstorms, as well. fremont picked up just about a half inch. we're still getting the tallies to come into our newsroom right now. alameda just under a half inch. san francisco looking good and pacifica for .4 an inch. here in san jose, we're almost up to a quarter inch of rain. here's the deal, a lot of that shower activity is racing off, still getting a little snowfall above 7,000 feet in the sierra nevada range, but for us, we're watching this steady stream of moisture. the moist

let's check in with meteorologist christina loren. >> hey, we do actually have rain on the way, a slight chance on wednesday. we picked over an inch of rain up in gilroy and we really need that rain down here in the south bay. that really brought our tallies up. in terms of average rainfall, we're doing okay chipping away at that drought slowly but sure by. today will be the coldest of the day of the week -- someone's been eating too much candy this morning for breakfast. that reain is out of here and te cold is lingering. but by the afternoon you can peel it off and the temperatures are going to be just about perfect. i'm talking aboutwide spread 70. and san francisco at 65 degrees. i'm going to go get another snickers bar. mike you want anything? >> i love a snickers bar. makes it hard to talk, though. look at that widened out shot, you see traffic coming out of livermore and dublin. we're looking at the south bay with northbound routes. right now there's not much of a commute at all. just a few of the road crews. the freeways are open, just the crews blocking a lane or two at a time.

let's check in with christina loren, she's very busy today. >> hey, good morning. everybody at home, another storm system on the way. we're tracking the aftermath of the last system that came through with some really deep fog settling in. we typically see the fog coming in off the pacific. san francisco right now is mostly clear. you'll notice we are getting that deep gray through your inland valley spots and it's that fog that is setting up here that could be problematic for people trying to get out of town. this could be problematic for you. just travel very cautiously and count on the fog to stick right here in the central valley, all the way through about 9:00 a.m. and it should start to burn off. as we head throughout the day today, you can see where we're getting that thick, thick gray as well and that's through marin county, sonoma county and through the delta. our next round of rain arrives as we head throughout the night. this one is going to fall on an already saturated ground. we could see our storm reports increase. we're going to get some rich moisture

our check of the forecast with christina loren. >> let's check the travel. a lot of people will be headed back to the bay area. we're looking really now. no delays out of any of your major airports, all across the initial this morning. as we get into this afternoon here in the bay area, our next weather making arrives and it's packing quite a punch. temperatures mostly in the 40s and 50s. it's a really pretty start to the day. we do have some fog out there this morning. we'll end up 65 in the south bay, 63 in the peninsula, 59 on the east shore. temperatures are going to be cool enough for a coat all day long. but we hold off on that rain until we get into this evening. i stop that clock for you right at 5:00 p.m. continuing to see that front push through tomorrow morning. this is whether we're expecting the heavy rainfall to really spread into the area. sunday will be a pretty good travel day, especially as you're trying to get back to southern california. by sunday the heavy stuff starts to come in and this is going to stick with us well until tuesday next
