that's absolutely right, christine. they are containing isis.e stopping that lightning that we saw from the militants of the past few months. so we've seen first hand what they are doing on the battlefield. certainly around here, erbil, but also at mosul dam. you're talking about humvees, other vehicles, the convoys that they were traveling in, blowing to pieces. and this is changing their tactics on the ground. their modus operandi. because they're unable to just roll across the desert here in iraq the way that they were once doing. so this is really affecting their methods and also forcing them to adapt, which is alarming according to officials. you know, they are now looking to infiltrate cities that they see as fertile ground and we visited one of those cities being kirkuk, a city which obviously would be valuable if isis could get their hands on it. so they can't just walk on in, because there are the kurdish forces there, defending the oil fields. also defending the local population. but certainly from the intelligence officials that we sp

hey, christine. well for a cease-fire when it begins with a burst of rocket fire, then retaliatory strikes. that's exactly what we saw happen last night. there was a report a short while ago of another rocket or mortar coming from gaza, landing on the israeli side of the border. they are saying they are not aware of that. it shows you things are tense when it comes to this particular cease-fire. there's probably a great deal of skepticism whether it will last the entire five days. say it does? the good news that appears to be coming out of egypt is the palestinian delegation says progress was made and they are continuing to talk. they are not there now. the sides have retreated to their negotiating corners and expect to get to egypt on sunday. there's still big divides such as israel wanting hamas to dearm, demilitarize and of course you have hamas that wants israel to lift the economic embargoes. they are huge hurdles and not likely to be fixed in five days. in the meantime, humanitarian aid comes i

christine, what can you tell us? >> reporter: philadelphia police detectives are still out here on mcmahon street at the scene. you can see there's some crime scene tape at the home where this happened. now, police tell me they expect to get a search warrant within the next couple of hours so they can search the home. here's what we know from the preliminary investigation. just after 9:00, police showed up after they got reports of gunshots on mcmahon street. when they got here, they found a 45-year-old man shot in the stomach. crews took him to einstein medical center where shehe's in stable condition now and undergoing surgery. police tell me the man's 78-year-old mother is the one who shot her son. they're still investigating but police say it looks like son may have had a gun and tried to shoot his mother first when he got inside the house. right now, police are talking to neighbors as well as to the 78-year-old woman that detectives are interviewing her, and possibly witnesses in the case trying to sort out exac

. >> i'm christine romans. it is 4:00 a.m. in the east. we have good news about a hostage held over seas. he was kidnapped in october of 2012 by an al qaeda group. he's expected to be reunited with family shortly. friends and family of slain american slain journalist -- nick paton walsh has more. what can you tell us about the release? >> reporter: it happened about 6:40 local time yesterday between israel and syria. interesting place to be released so far away from where he was originally kidnapped in syria. held in aleppo for a long period of time. we just received a statement from another american who was held in aleppo. they shared a cell. matthew did escape from the cell. he had to leave fear behind. matthew released a statement earlier saying we were together over six months but never shared a day. now we dochlt they are now free. this day will go down as one of the happiest of my life. relief from the cell mate with the fear of leaving him behind. the family released a statement. they thank the u.s. and government. they call it a hu

a plane bound for sfo where christin ayers is standing by tonight. christin? >> reporter: yeah, that man had to face some disturbing accusations once he landed here at sfo. those details, all detailed in a federal complaint obtained by the smoking gun. the complaint says it happened on a u.s. airways flight from charlotte to san francisco. he was seated next to a 14-year- old girl. halfway through the flight, he placed his hand palm side down on her thigh and touched her breast an moved his hand along her thigh. when he tried to push her away, he whispered i love you. he urged the girl not to tell your mom. >> there is no name tag for creeps. no way to identify people who are shady. >> i'm surprised that happened. >> reporter: that is what flight attendants are for. >> the flight attendant should be responsible for the minor flying alone. someone should have paid more attention. >> reporter: the crew wound up moving the girl to a different seat on the plane for the remainder of the flight. he is facing a federal assault charge. reporting live in sfo, christin

. >> christin ayers is at the west oakland bart station tonight. christin? >> reporter: and the alameda county sheriff's department saying this is all a false alarm. someone actually called in a fake bomb threat at this bart station and then to make matters worse, a canine unit signaled to police falsely that will might be explosives on board that bus as well, of course, the incident causing service to be interrupted. it forced evacuation and caused serious delays on bart leaving bart riders stranded, some of them for hours when bomb technicians finally did get a chance to check out the bus, they found nothing amiss. service back up for an hour-and- a-half. authorities said they had to shut this down because they had the call-in. and the dog signaled to them that something might be seriously wrong. they said overall better safe than sorry. christin ayers, kpix5. >> one person tweeted this photo. traffic was so bad, uber activated surge pricing. another person tweeted there is a special place in hell for someone who called in the bomb threat. >>> another secu

it's a tough order. >> reporter: yeah, christine.nother big issue is the history of this conflict. if you look at the history of this conflict, it shows the two sizes, the israelis and palestinians repeatedly failed to do what they are about to try to do, again. that is to resolve this ongoing conflict. even so, they are going to give it another shot. the palestinian delegation is already here in cairo. they have been here for a week. they never left after the cease-fires last week fell apart. there are some members of the israeli media reporting the israeli delegation arrived here in cairo. we are working to independently confirm that. last night, the israeli's said they will only show up today if the cease-fire holds and it looks like that's the case. the cease-fire was put forth by the egyptian government last night. it went into effect around 12:00 midnight. there was a lot of back and forth between the palestinians and israelis. the palestinians accepted the cease-fire and then the israeli's followed. here is the glaring problem
