christine romans is following that story. good morning. >> good morning.llen later today. but just about everybody in the world thinks higher interest rates are coming. that means it's going to cost more money to borrow money, to get a car loan, mortgage loan, credit cards. mortgage rates for the 30-year fix rose above 4.0% last week. that's still very cheap and you could argue that interest rates have been too low or too long. they've been near 0% since 2008. so higher interest rates a reflection of a recovering american economy. also you have this trouble in greece, though. greece relatively small economy with big problems. watch closely for that. there's a big deadline coming up. there's a new sense of urgency about greece not being able to pay its bills. that may be a wild card. >> what do you think the markets will do? >> if i knew what they would do i would be an island in the caribbean and phoning this in. that's the beauty of it. with markets, you never know how they're going to react. the dow is still very close to 18,000 today. it's up 53 points

christine romans is off this morning. we have breaking news this morning. a new york state prison guard has bailed out of jail after his arrest. that in connection with two convicted killers three weeks ago. the 57-year-old is expected to plead not guilty at a a hearing today. investigators tell cnn that palmer gave the inmates tools to fix circuit breakers in the cat walk behind their cells. palm rer said he supervised the work and reclaimed the tools after but this is the same cat walk a that they used in their escape. for the latest, let's turn to jason carroll in new york. >> reporter: that prison guard was arraigned wednesday night. he's now in custody facing several serious charges including promoting dangerous contraband contraband destroying evidence and official misconduct. i'm told these are low level felonies and at one point he could have faced an even more serious charge of aiding and abetting. but still serious charges nonetheless for his involvement in all this. his attorney said his client did admit to passing on the frozen chunk of hamburge
