christine romans is breaking it down.d morning. >> it is all about the math and the math favors donald trump. i want to start with the dealts right now and the gop. 125 delegates have already been awarded. 82 to trump. super tuesday now a dozen states up for grabs. artic about half of the 1237 republican delegates needed to secure the nomination are at stake here and polls show donald trump really dominating. our most recent polling here shows trump at 49%, up 8 pointsnus a month and that is pretty much spread across the states. the biggest prize today carol, the delegate count in texas. 155 there. look at the polling here. it is home to senator cruz. he's been campaigning hard in his own state. 155 delegates at stake to be awarded proportionally. cruz needs a big win there. even a narrow win means trump can still run up the delegate numbers. latest polls again favor trump. ted cruz, marco rubio vying for second here. marco rubio still looking for his first big win here. virginia perhaps. some folks on his team are confid

. >> i'm christine romans. we welcome all of our viewers here in the u.s. and around the world. >> what a night it was. donald trump and hillary clinton the two front-runners right now. they were the big winners on this election day. donald trump continues his march toward the republican convention at least, almost certainly going to get there with the most delegates. he won at least three states, illinois, north carolina, and florida, big. he may still win a fourth. look at missouri right now. less than 2,000 votes separate donald trump and ted cruz. they have suspended counting for the night. they're going to look at the absentee and provisional ballots tomorrow, but donald trump leading there right now. the cruz campaign, by the way, could request a recount if it wanted to, but the cruz campaign tells our sunlen serfaty they have no plans to do so at this point. so if this holds, donald trump will win four out of five states on this super tuesday. donald trump told supporters overnight that his movement will not be stopped. >> we have a great opportunity

christine romans is joining me now. >> good morning, carol. and national security is top of mind after the attacks in brussels and the heartbreaking loss of life there. the two issues are related, terrorism and the economy. it's a goal of terrorists to sew fear and disrupt the economy. the u.s. state department warning americans traveling abroad of travel-related stocks fell initially but countries do and bounce back quickly. even if travel and tourism decline in the immediate aftermath and business and consumer confidence suffers a temporary knock. the key word is temporary. tourism is resilient. they move quickly to accommodate travelers and encourage travelers and have created better crisis and communication tactics. international tourism grew by 4%. nearly 1.2 billion people made journeys last year. hotel arrivals in paris fell 14% after the attacks last fall but it's expected to be back to normal within two months. the bombings in 2005 had no impact on tourism or the economy. none. after the attacks in paris, the impact wasn't long before

welcome back, i'm christine romans. >> i'm john bermen. 31 minutes past the hour. breaking overnight, wow, this was simply stunning. bernie sanders with an upset victory in michigan. such an unexpected result there. the sanders campaign didn't expect it. the clinton campaign didn't expect it. the polls did show it was going to happen. hillary clinton did win in mississippi by a huge margin. what does that mean? that hillary clinton won more delegates on this super tuesday. you're looking at the total delegates that includes sup superdelega superdelegates. on the republican side, donald trump had three strong wins, michigan, mississippi, high he. ted cruz won in idaho. an awful night for marco rubio. he didn't win any of the states. he picked up no delegates for sure in michigan, mississippi or idaho still waiting on hawaii. it's maximum one or two delegates. an awful night. the net result, donald trump extended his delegate lead going into another week of big, important contests. both trump and sanders are turning their focus to next week's primaries. >> so, we are
