christopher caldwell joins me now and the author of the age of entitlement, america since the '60s. ristopher, i agree with you that i wish there were elements of cross-examination and confrontation in the january 6th committee's work and all of those nine hearings, but the fact that the needle didn't move, i don't think is the committee's fault. i think it's a testament on the level of polarization and the entrenchment that people have in this country. what about you? >> well, i -- you know, i -- certainly, i agree with half of it. it's hard to see how given the evidence of trump's misbehavior between the election and january 20th and people who were against trump would shift their -- their opinions. i do think that -- that a lot of the people who were on trump's side were a little bit frightened of the way the -- the committee operated, and i think that there was a tendency to blame the january 6th events not on -- on -- on trump's misdeeds, but the -- let's say the -- but on the opinion that there was something wrong with the election which is an opinion that can be freely held by
