christie smith picks up the story from there. christie, they looked for hours and they found him?ter: that's right. and police say after hours and hours of searching that the man was still initially uncooperative when they finally caught up with him. at one point they say tear gas was deployed in the search that started actually overnight here in hayward. but they say the man was taken into custody near d and meeks streets 2:00 this afternoon at duplex style apartments. surrounding units they say were evacuated. this start around 2 a.m. when an officer tried to pull the man over. police say the man got out of his car, fired at the officer, who fired back. they say the officer was not hurt but police went yard to yard looking for him. residents were urged to stay inside. police say they finally received information on where he was, moved in and they did use a tazer. >> there were no shots fired. he did not comply at first, but it -- we used the less lethal option, and he was taken into custody with no injury. >> reporter: investigators believe that that car, a white infinity suv, m
