supervisor chu: thank you. supervisor kim? supervisor kim: what is the number of the property that the city owns currently? >> each year, the apartments are required by ordinance to report to the director property as they are either under-utilized or declared surplus. again, this is a self-reporting process. there are about two dozen surplus properties. the majority of those are strips of rights of way under the public works jurisdiction. a few of them are under the housing of office jurisdiction ordinances' from the mid-2000's. some of which are moving forward with either development for sale purposes. others are coming back to the granting department, as they did not look feasible. supervisor chu: how much property do we own? >> enterprise apartments are not required to record surplus property. i cannot speak to that. we do assist, as the real-estate arm of the city, with the puc we have disposed of many assets. recently we have provided funding for the 525 gates project. supervisor chu: what about the proper

supervisor chu: mr. rose? >> madam share, on page 6 of the report would point out that the total cost to purchase the facility, as shown in table one on page 6 of the report, that amount does not include the total cost for needed capital improvements. as shown in the second table on page 6, the total capital improvements are currently estimated to range between 25,000 -- [unintelligible] on page 7 of the report, as shown on table 3, the total estimated cost of purchasing an occupying the facility, including acquisition costs, capital improvements, and other costs, would range between $40,000,000.50 $0.2 million. -- $40 million why and $50.2 million. we have compared leasing this facility with purchasing this facility. it would cost about 5,325,000 more, or about 99.1% more to lease, rather than purchasing. of course, capital purchasing would need to be constructive whether it was a lease for a purchase if this building could use the location for the medical examiner. currently we are considering approval of th

supervisor chu: it is hard. i learned that my shoes were out pretty quickly -- wore out pretty quickly. i learned to be more practical about the types of shoes i war, of course, but overall, i learned how important it is to communicate with people about what it is you would like to do. in any campaign and any political idea that comes forward, there are misconceptions about candidates, about people, about issues. the most important thing you can do to break through that is to have direct conversations in people's living rooms and talk to them about the issues that you see are pressing and what you are working on and explain your values to people. at the end of the day, they can choose to support you or not support you, support your issue or not, but at the end of the day, at least you are not perpetuating misinformation. at the end of the day, i enjoyed getting to know the people out there. in terms of interesting jobs, this has to be one of the most interesting jobs. you work on a whole host of issues all year

supervisor chu: thank you. for this item, we have ever presented it from the redevelopment agency. >> amy lee. i will make this brief because this is more of a procedural issue. we will be back before the board for a more substantive discussion about the actual mechanics of the payment. as you may or may not be aware, the state, in implementing ab 26, called for the dissolution of the agency and temporary suspension of our activities. coupled with that was also ab 27, which permitted cities and counties to bring the agency's back to life, to continue to do redevelopment activities once their funds were paid to the education relief augmentation fund. that amount is under the community remit amount. that needs to be paid some time in the fall. there are two payments in january and in may. there are some procedural things in ab 27 that permits us to have additional time in coming up with how we are going to make this payment. so this resolution before you just permits the additional month's time for us to discuss
