we begin with the markets and dom chu has all the numbers. >> very stable and somewhat mixed. the dow is still the laggard and has been over the course of the last few months at this point. we are just about flat on the dow, down nine points on a basis of 38,69. the s&p 500, 548 is. now, remember, the high water mark at this point is 5488. that was the record intraday high we saw just yesterday. seven points below that right now. eight points today. 0.2 of 1%. up 13 points on the range. there is your context around the s&p. the nasdaq just about flat on the session, up four points. one of the places we're watching today is what's going on with the oil market. check out wti crude prices, now steadily above $81 a barrel. you can see up about 1% today. i put the blue and yellow lines, the 50-day moving average, we are just at about that level right now. we're watching this $80, $81 range closely. we'll see what happens here. that crude trade has been weak here, but a nice rebound over the last couple of weeks. and then the stock of the day is an energy in power but not the oil an

dom chu is hear re with the clo look. what is happening with divi dividends, look at the sector. the best performing sector in the s&p this year. if you take a look at the way things are panning out, we have a number of companies paying dividends although they are not big. the sector pays rough by .23% of a dividend yield. if you look at the most important sector, 30% weighting in the s&p 500 for technology, look at the better dividend payers and not so because of the falling stock price. we looked at the s&p 500 tech sector and decided to screen for dividends. we looked at companies that pay a dividend and from there, we looked at positive price performance. from there, we looked at which had the highest dividend yield. you see the overall screen and above average dividend yield. more than .23% of 1%. these are the standouts of dividend payers that still have price momentum. check out ibm which pays 4% dividend. cisco at 3.5%. also what is interesting, frank, this is a fun one. there are 65 stocks in the s&p 500 tech sec

before all, that let's go over to dom chu with the market action. is making a comeback in terms of the headlines. >> for sure. to your point, things are relatively stable in the equity markets. the dow industrials just about flat on the session, up four points on a basis of 38,575. the s&p 500 is at 5271. it's down about 11, 12 points, one quarter of 1% declines. we were modestly higher, up just one whole point, just one point. and down roughly 26 at the lows. so predominantly a lower day so far. but just fractionally so far. the nasdaq down about 0.2%, 16,796. one of the tech trades we are following more closely is on the semiconductor side. no surprise, give than big tech conference going on in taiwan is still ongoing. earlier today, intel and the ceo introduced the new chips, they're ai oriented processors. earlier in the session, we did see some gains. nvidia and advanced microboth made announced on their ai chips. and kelly mentioned those signs of a slowdown. on the commodity and rate side of things, rates first. the ten-year treasury note yie

let's get to today's market and dom chu with the markets.d of an odd day. >> but a record-setting one, kelly. what we have right now is a mixed session where it's just about maybe flat for the dow, marginally lower for the s&p 500 and nasdaq. but i'm going to try not to bury the lead. we did hit record highs. the s&p at one point hit a record high, and so did the nasdaq, as well. the dow at 38,828, up about 20 points, relatively flat on the session. 5343 is the level for the s&p 500, down about 10, 11 points. we were up higher by about eight points at one point today. down 14 points tat low, so tilting towards the lower end of that trading range. similar percentage move for the nasdaq composite index, sitting at 17,152. again, record highs intraday for the s&p and nasdaq. we're keeping an eye on the retail side of things, that's the more retail oriented stores geared more towards value consumers. five below. results for quarterly results came in below estimates, and then their outlook wasn't as great, so shares down 13%. and that's well off

let's start with these markets and dom chu with the very latest. >> still holding steady. dow is just about flat, up about 32 points on a basis of 39,145 or thereabouts. so pretty much flat. the s&p 500 is at 5466, down about two to three points, pretty much flat, as well. i'll tell you the highs of the session, we were up six points and down 18 at the lows. so, again, well off the lows, but relatively mixed. the nasdaq up 0.2 of 1%, to 17,752. one place we are seeing a bit of market action is what's happening with the transportation index. t remember, fedex is up roughly 14% or so, by far the best performing stock in the s&p. that's pushing this etf up against its 50-day moving average. the only reason it's important is because it's been about april, we've been contained by this blue line. so we'll see whether or not there's a breakout in play for this etf or if it gets rejected at that level. so we'll keep an eye on the transportation etf. one more place to watch the stock of the day, it's general mills, one of the worst performers in the s&p 500. big brand company, chee

we turn to dominic chu. good to see you, dom. what is the trump plan proposing? >> sure.da. what we do have a good chunk of the broader strokes, the bigger picture. we adopt have time to go through all of them, but key focal points are like tariffs. that was a big part of his agenda, and continue to this day with the current biden administration. so american voters will have to come to some decision about the balance of cost and benefit. putting higher taxes on imported goods, it will raise prices for consumers and be inflationary, but is it worth it to westbound less reliant on foreign made goods. same for labor costs. larger-scale immigration crackdowns are being proposed. that will constrain the labor pool. those increased wages could be ultimately borne by the american consumer. tax cuts are part of that, who will pay the most to offset the revenue, those are all issues that could or could not be inflationary. so there's still a lot of questions about the specifics with a potential trump economic agenda there. >> so what about president biden's economic agenda? >> sur

joining us live now to talk more about the ruling's impact on san francisco is city attorney david chu. >> david, thanks for joining us. >> thanks for having me on, kristen. >> i know you had filed a friend of the court brief, amicus brief in this case urging for this exact outcome. why and why is this ruling good for the city of san francisco? >> so there was this prior case called grants pass that the supreme court was considering and just ruled on, that had really made it very difficult for our city to address the complexity of issues that we see on our streets. we've spent billions of dollars in recent years providing shelter and services with a compassionate approach, but we're trying to balance that with keeping our streets clean and safe and unfortunately, the grants pass decision by the ninth circuit had made that very difficult. today, the supreme court overturned that understanding that cities like san francisco, we address a complexity of issues on the ground. we need more flexibility in how we address what's happening on our streets. and that's something that will be permit
