we want to go to the storm center and meteorologist chuck bell. what are you seeing? >> the first round of bad weather is leaving. all eyes are going to be focused to the blue ridge for another line of showers to develop. the view from the camera over d.c., a lot of dark skies across parts of southern maryland. that's where the biggest and baddest thunderstorms are. calvert county, the rain cells are headed to the northeast and will be over the bay in the next little bit. it's raining hard from calvert beach to leonardtown and mechanicsville, route 5 and route 2 in southern maryland. expect delays when traveling there. here is the next line of showers developing near the blue ridge. as they come back to the warmer, more humid air, they may start to intensify. there's an upward trend in the sensety, so they have to be watched. the watch goes until 9:00 and a flash flood watch until 10:00 for the metro, northern maryland and eastern shores. we'll keep a very, very close eye on this. the rest of the evening, a possibility of strong to severe thunderstorm. tomorrow, more

coming up in the next ten minutes at 6:11, chuck bell is joining us live on eighth street. now, erika, back to you. >>> we have new developments now in the investigation of malaysia airlines flight 17. in the past 20 minutes we have learned malaysia airlines investigators just arrived on the scene of the crash site. the bodies of the passengers are now in a safe area of ukraine. forensic experts will now examine the remains beforehanding them over to the netherlands for further identification. all but 16 of the bodice on board flight 17 have been recovered. an international team of investigators is also examining the plane's black box recorders. armed rebels turned them over last night. and in the meantime, russia denies involvement in the crash. the foreign ministry says a ukrainian fighter jet had tracked the airliner despite kiev's assertions that no aircraft were nearby or was nearby at the time. the european union will meet today to consider further sanctions against russia. >>> 6:03 right now and neighbors say they knew the two young men who were locked in a basement

we'll check in with storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell for the latest on the forecast. n do you think we'll see lightning, chuck? >>> thunderstorms are likely the develop after 1:00 or 2:00 this afternoon and continue until 9:00 or 10:00 this evening. so that will be the timeframe to be most alert. the biggest risk for severe weather is east of the blue ridge that does include the d.c. metro area and down into parts of southern maryland and much of northern virginia down to richmond. the view outside from the tower looking straight up wisconsin avenue right there to bethesda, skies are mostly cloudy here in washington. prince george's county looking back over the district, mostly cloudy skies. there's the woodrow wilson bridge there. and out to the west, this is looking live at dullest international airport. you can see the blue ridge in the distance but that will fade with rain drops moving in within the next hour or. so they will gradually spread east. and it is much, much warmer east of the mountains. as a result, that's going to be the fuel for thunderstorms today. s

storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell is tracking storms on the way. >> good morning. a good sunday mog everybody. a cloudy and wet start this morning. no rain in the metro area but a lot of wet roads and big puddles out there. take it easy for sunday services. cloudy skies await you across the entire region. i do think these clouds will thin out a bit late this morning into early afternoon. that will set the stage for potential strong to severe thunderstorms co our way. our severe parameters are at the moderate to hi levels. a high risk of damaging wind gusts with some of the stronger thunderstorms later this afternoon and even a tornado threat as well. so the weather headlines, morning showers cong to an end. we will have breaks of sunshine today. how much sunshine we get will play a factor in how severe the storms can become and how early they can get going. if we get full sunshine as early as 1:00 or 2:00, storms could break in as early as 3:00 or 4:00. if the clouds hang in it might be later in the day. a lot of energy in the atmosphere with this system. main thre
