we begin with nbc bay area's chuck coppola where he got a tour of the damage there. chuck? >> reporter: good evening. we can show you in san mateo county this spillway was not spared at all. this was caused by a landslide meeting the roadway, giving way as a result of the rainstorm. this is your view at the end of this cracked driveway, a landslide that rolled through here. that big oak tree in the back, that used to be standing on the top of that ridge line in a neighborhood that has at least three red-tagged homes and possibly six more that might be added to the list. all of this is damage that's happened in just the last two weeks. it led to a tour. a neighborhood of buckled streets and homes. patrick sheridan, who has lived here 36 years, stau his neighbor's home start breaking apart from late january. >> about a day later, it all sank about three feet, and a day or two later, it sank another three feet. another day or two later, another three feet. >> the tour, by congresswoman to build funds for an infrastructure and enough money to help homeowners. >> these are not d

so let's start right now with nbc bay area chuck coppola, who is live near the anderson dam. what's it like there, chuck? >> reporter: well, peggy and terry, it's become the gathering point here. you can see all the people who have come to take a look at this. anderson reservoir is 101% of capacity. you can see the water line behind me there. so let's take a look at what's brought everybody here. when that happens, it goes over the spillway lip and then down this plume, the spillway is lined with concrete. no danger according to the wart officials here of it crumbling. it is holding up rather well. water officials say morgan hill down stream is not in any danger from this release. but if the approaching storms become heavy, there could be flooding in low-lying parts of coyote creek in east san jose. saturday morning, anderson reservoir crested over the lip of its spillway and fell into cascade towards coyote creek. >> it's pretty cool. we don't see water like this every 10, 20 years. we came up here to see it and we got our show. >> i think it's crazy. we used to kind of hang

. >> nbc bay area's chuck coppola live in the santa cruz mountains with the details on two big road closures. chuck? >> reporter: well, terry and peggy, i can tell you that highway 17 is open in both directions. it has been open all day today. you can see behind me southbound traffic coming towards us, it's flowing a little bit faster than northbound traffic. and the other side of that center divider, nothing is happening over there. the mud slide remains. if this is any indication of how things are going to go, it will be a very slow commute come monday. for the first time since friday morning, traffic flowed northbound on highway 17. but caltrans says cal osha has suspended work to reopen the remaining lanes, pending its investigation into last week's deadly construction accident. farther north, highway 35, known as skyline boulevard, has a 200-foot-wide chasm that broke loose friday amp, north of bear creek road. >> the whole mountain community has been affected, just trying to get kids to school from lexington, my younger son goes to lexington elementary, so there's been a few days it's

chuck coppola has more on the story.and deja vu for people who have been going on with this for a month now. >> reporter: that is right, the crews have been busy, the huge tree is still blocking one of the roads here, pg&e telling people here it will not be until tomorrow morning before that tree will be removed. >> it's pretty amazing. >> reporter: a limb from this huge tree cracked open there in ben loman. >> it went on for almost a minute. i mean, an explosion. >> reporter: across the road, the limb now stretched power lines. >> it's leaning up against that fence. >> yes. >> reporter: it's weighing on the lines. >> and it's on the lines. >> reporter: he walked us down the road to a greater danger. the forest cracked open a nearby power pole, the crews put a splint on it, while electricity still flowed above them. >> they're trying to fix it with the splint there, and when they were fixing it with the splint, i think even twice i heard like kind of a loud noise, gee, they're brave. >> reporter: at the local fire statio

tod "today in the bay's" chuck coppola has details. >> we had already suspected something. >> reporter: one neighbor who did not want to be identified was not surprised when mountain view police arrested this 34-year-old and his had 45-year-old wife after police say they found 50 pounds of opium poppy pods and $30,000 in cash in the couple's apartment. >> late at night random cars would come -- sorry. they would come through here and pick up stuff in brown bags. or, like, small boxes. >> reporter: more than small boxes. police found nearly 4000 pounds of opium poppy pods in a nearby storage locker way street value of $400,000. >> the shipment came from great britain. beyond that, we don't know where the poppies were coming from. >> reporter: three moss of surveillance and a big break this past tuesday. >> leaving with a box of opium powder, was stopped and said he just bought it from the suspects. >> reporter: in addition to drug charges the couple is charged with child endangerment. >> these people were dealing drugs out of their apartment with their 5-year-old son living there. >> re
