[applause] everyone thinks it is so tough. it is interesting, it is dangerous. what do you have to be as a person to be a navy seal? >> i think the candidates are a little bit crazy. i did not think that would be enough. i think everyone who is in the military can tell you it is a team sport. if you want to be a member, you have to be a team player. that is what it takes. >> this book goes through the history of bin laden. it goes through america's commitment. the navy seal program began in the early 1960's? >> we will created by president kennedy in 1962. the same time he created the green beret. the green beret -- we were facing possible soviet intervention in europe. the green beret was designed as a lead behind force. if you are going to train people, you have to have mastered your own subject matter. they were professional, special operators. president kennedy created the seal team from underwater demolition teams who had served in the pacific. also, normandy, pre-invasion. the s
