chuck todd joins us from washington, d.c., with a preview. you sat down with donald trump in iowa yesterday. what's he saying about his situation there? >> well, the big takeaway for me is he wants to go after ted cruz. he knows he's behind cruz in iowa. he also knows if he can somehow catch up and beat him in iowa, then it might eliminate cruz as a threat down the road, particularly as the primary calendar turns south in the month of march. he went after cruz not just on the birth certificate stuff. he's not ready to let up on that. also on immigration. even on something that's near and dear to iowan's hearts, the point is, trump now knows he's trying to engage cruz, and the difference is last night cruz is now fighting back. i think probably the best way to look at this is that we're seeing a new phase this week. trump v. cruz is going to be a argument. >> jeb bush calling trump the chaos candidate this week. how has he disrupted the both sides of the aisle? >> look at it this week. i mean, he sent ted cruz off message for now five days wit
