is the cia documents proved the cia and fbi for the next 16 months would collaborate on the twa investigation which they did not say outright. the collaboration was to subvert the twa investigation. the cia had no other role and that becomes incredibly clear when you read your documents than to make all talk of missiles go away because on the opening night for tall people were talking about within the fiercest -- first the ours. we know there's one amateur video taken of the complete sequence of events. some of you may have seen it. it was aired on "msnbc" to the best of my knowledge probably two or three times. i talk to one of the fellows who is the technical director at "msnbc" and he said we showed it a few times in these three guys in suits came to pick up the copies and that was the end of that. the best collaboration of who we have seen i got from a 747 pilot and he was willing to give him his name and the use of his name which is a sign of some confidence. he was laid up in a hong kong hospital with that surgery and his wife came to visit and watch tv for several weeks. the start of t

let me just state from the outset, you know, the cia is an espionage agency. we understand that there are certain things that are legitimately kept secret and that we also understand that sometimes we don't understand why things are being kept secret and that's why we have conversations with the cia press office and with sources that we cultivate who we trust so that we can figure out those things. but you know, i think there's also an interesting kind of middle ground where the cia can legitimately keep things secret, and we can legitimate ll lly fa them out and publish them. a couple of examples come to mind. i think on an earlier panel someone talked about the back channel diplomacy bowl that the cia often performs. you know, of course i understand why the cia would want to keep that -- those kinds of very sensitive conversations and negotiations quiet and secret. at the same time, if jason or i or another reporter stumbles on the george w. bush administration negotiations with gaddafi on the nuclear deal, well that might be fair negotiations with gadhafi,

we now have privacy officers at cia.these are new roles in figuring out how to be more transparent, it's going to be an ever-sort-of-changing process. we have increased the amount of protections under 702 versus nima's perspective. one of the things that's important is make sure we truly are talking about the same set of facts to the extent that those are not classified and we've really worked to do that, so whether you think you should have a warrant to do the u.s. person query or not based on how we think about these things, what i think has been really positive is the fact that we are now talking almost about all the same. so nima and i can totally disagree on this but disagreeing based on own policy perspective as oppose today truly different facts and that's where we want to be in terms of the transparency. i don't know whether i'm going to defend whether there should or should not be a warrant. that's sort of the standard today but we can now have the discussion which is a option that we have in the space. how tran
