i'm cierra johnson in for marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia.e continue to folsom pretty major breaking news this morning. impacting millions of people across the country, including right here in the bay area, federal regulators are recommending a pause for the johnson & johnson covid vaccine due to extremely rare blood clots. and now there is some pretty major questions about the vaccine supply. some of these booked appointments already, and what concern you should have if you already received that johnson & johnson vaccine. 7 million people have already been vaccinated with j&j, and this comes just two days before california is opening eligibility for the vaccine to everyone over 17. >> that's right, and pete suratos is live with this developing each minute. pete, 9 million doses of j&j have now been shipped across the country. >> reporter: yeah, huge announcement this morning, guys, especially considering that vaccine eligibility is going to expand on thursday. i mean, you have folks making appointments as we speak. but let's go ahead and tal

cierra johnson has the report. >> yes, it was said to speed up the process to get the folks vaccinated, but now the state is going to see a 90% decrease in the number of johnson & johnson vaccines. this is according to the "mercury news." looking at the numbers to see how big of a hit number-wise, we are seeing according to the mercury news. they expect the number of johnson & johnson vaccines to drop from 575,000 to 68,000 next week alone. that means state will receive a total of 2 million down from 2.4 million received this week. last week johnson & johnson did issue a statement regarding the quality of a batch or of vaccine made at a production facility near baltimore saying that the batch did not meet the quality standards and never advanced to the filling and forming stations of the facility, and two batches were made, but on separate sides, and there was no word if the state plans to delay the expansion for more folks being able to get the vaccine, but as it stands 16 and over today, and that a piece of advice as the shortage of the vaccine as specifically johnson & johnson is. s

along with cierra johnson, we'r breaking news, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake striking in the mendocino national forest. it was early,ut 4:18 this morning, about 45 miles northwest of cloverdale. this map kind of gives you an idea of where it is. pretty remote out there but good shaking nonetheless. let's check in with kari. >> yes, it is a very active region and to see a 4.0, we don't get that many of them, so as we look at where it happened, it was just northwest of ukiah, and it's possible that you may have felt some of that, but looking at the frequency of earthquakes that we have here in california, and we get about 100 a day, if you don't feel most of those, because most of them are below a 4.0, and of course, the most active fault is the san andreas, this is parallel to the an san dre was fault which we'll have to watch closely because some of that lateral movement could possibly trigger a larger earthquake. so we'll be watching that throughout the morning, as well as our forecast. i'll have more on that in a few minutes. mike, how is the commute moving? >>> this is a problem out of san f

here's cierra johnson with an update. >> reporter: scott peter soviet republic has spent the last 20 years here at this prison, but today as you mentioned he did make that appearance in court. it was over zoom and it was regarding two specific types of hearings. now, i did have a chance to listen in, and is this the takeaway from that. well, peterson appeared regarding a criminal matter of that 2004 conviction in as you mentioned the death of his wife and unborn child. last year a high court ruled another look to be taken after the original trial judge excluded jurors from the jury pool after they expressed they opposed the death penalty. so for item peterson's attorney asked for 60 days of discovery. the judge agreed and the second pores relates to a new trial hearing over juror miscop dufnlgt peterson's team has filed a challenge to his conviction in which that's claimed juror number seven lloyd during the pre-trial questioning. they blame when she was asked if she had ever become a victim of a claim. she cannot file the information about a rfrd she had obtained. peter soviet repub

i'm cierra johnson in for marcus washington. we start off with breaking news. a truck flipping over on highway 101 causing a big backup in the south bay. let's begin with mike inouye who has been tracking the progress to get the truck right-side up. good morning, mike. >> reporter: highway 101 was completely closed when they had to close all lanes because a truck was laying across. that is big rig just before 8:00 this morning. this truck laid down on the roadway which meant no one could drive off of 101 or each coming off of 880 for a couple of hour. we caught up with skyranger overhead. it was on the roadway for half an hour. as they still pulled to the side they had connectors closed and minutes ago, i got word from chp they have also opened all lanes. 101 opened first and the connectors off 880 recovered and recovered in a quick fashion because it's a light friday morning commute. >> now a live look across the bay area where you can see the fog covering a few places like san bruno mountain. there's good news for the rain. upcoming showers as you know much-n
