. >> cierra johnson is live. what do people need to know about this?s right now. a couple minutes ago, nurses made their way outside and some of them holding signs. this is one of two situations involving the kaiser employees. we will get to the labor dispute involving the pharmacists in just a moment, but this situation involves a new program called home alone program. a union representing more than 175,000 nurses across the nation explains the picket starting right now was to warn the public about an issue associated with kaiser's home all alone program. the nurses explain the program sends patients in need of care to be cared for at home and the program does not provide the patient the best possible care, and is, quote, a blatant attempt to increase profits by sacrificing care. we have not reached out to the hospital and have not heard a response. it's different than a potential strike. that is planned for tomorrow. that strike involves pharmacists. the guilt told us their group could strike on monday so they are urging patients to fill prescription

. >> today cierra johnson joins us live. what are police saying about this investigation, cierra? >> reporter: good morning, marcus and laura. yeah, we have been in communication with the oakland police and right now we can confirm based on a photographer we have on scene in that oakland neighborhood, it was a woman and her 11-year-old daughter shot in front of a home there in oakland. take a look at the video. this is the video we just got in the news room from the photographer, and that shooting took place on sterling drive near the oakland zoo. both have been taken to the hospital. we are working to learn more about their conditions and we are in communications with oakland pd to see if they have information or a description of the suspect. this shooting comes days after a toddler, jasper wu, was shot and killed by a stray bullet while he was asleep in the car seat as his mother drove along 880 there in oakland. there's currently a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of jasper's killer. oakland facing a surge in violence. this year, 119 people have died by homi

nbc bay area's cierra johnson has been following the story all morning and is live in santa rosa. what do we know? >> reporter: good morning. we know the 15-year-old is safe with her family and the amber alert stems from a situation that played out at this gas station yesterday in broad daylight. we were able to obtain that surveillance video of the individual allegedly being abducted here at the arco gas station in santa rosa. investigators say a witness told them they saw the 15-year-old girl standing with family members near the corner of gurnville and fulton around 1:30. ten minutes later a suspect in the orange shirt ran across the parking lot, grabbed the girl, and forced her into a dark colored vehicle. the car then taking off eastbound on gurnville. that girl back home safe. right now police not revealing the connection between the suspect and the teen. news of the situation as well as the amber alert really caught some of our viewers by surprise. >> how is that possible when you have somebody coming out like that and with all the cameras and they still don't care? it's li

cierra johnson takes a closer look at what happened and why his employer and what they are saying this morning. >> good morning. a bit of a bizarre story here when san mateo police responded to a robbery in progress at this rite aid in san mateo. i'm sure they never imagined they would be apprehending another member of law enforcement. san francisco police sergeant dafin cole is off duty when he was arrested wednesday on suspicion of robbery at the rite aid here on concord drive in san mateo. according to a post, when they arrived on scene, the suspect, sergeant cole, attempted to flee on foot but was later captured. take a look at this. this is a picture of sergeant cole tweeted from the sfpd twitter account. the department says cole has been with sfpd since 1994. he was most recently assigned to field operation with the department. he was placed on unpaid leave pending an internal investigation. back out here, the rite aid has reopened for the day. and as for sergeant cole, he's out on bond, but he is expected to be arraigned at the hall of justice in redwood city on november 18th. i
