[applause] mark bertolini: good afternoon. a little bit about who i'm not. i am not an economist. i will offer those apologies up front. i am also not your typical ceo. i am probably one of the quickly vanishing examples of living the american dream. i paid my own way through college, working for three different unions. i came from a union family. my dad and mother both worked part-time so we did not have insurance most of the time. my dad was a pattern maker in the auto industry and my mother was a nurse. it took me years to get through undergrad because i was serious about it. i was fortunate enough to get a scholarship to cornell, where i intended on going back to work in the auto industry and unions, but was enticed to start an hmo with four friends of mine. here i am in front of you
