hsu. the investigators say it's one piece of the puzzle that may take weeks to solve. you are looking live at the working all day to remove 600 feet of steel. brian? >> reporter: yes, cindy, take a look. that truck you see backing down is about to get loaded with one of the pieces of this giant crane boom. they've been slicing it up into pieces, lifting it and putting it onto trucks and hauling it away. the city hopes to have what's left of this crane completely removed by tomorrow morning. sparks were flying today quite literally at the scene of the deadly crane collapse as crews use blowtorches to carefully dismantle the 565 foot long boom and find out exactly what caused it to come down. >> the main point is to cut them in locations that doesn't compromise the forensic engineering values so we can have experts study how the pieces failed. >> reporter: the crane is so pieces and haul add way. the fatal accident may now lead to changes at construction sites city wide. >> we are going to investigate whether there might be an adjustment to how operations are done based on the size of the crane. >> reporter: the horrific accident happened friday morning just before 8:30 a.
