to the city. and in fees. and i don't know if that is possible to send out a survey to or maybe the city could and i think that we are getting the fees and the department should be able to do that. it might be i think that it would be interesting to know what the city is receiving in fees from all of these festivals, and i agree that there is a big difference between when you have an oricale world or even an outside lands where you have an outside entity that is putting on a huge event as opposed to these more community driven events that are non-profit. and so do you, is that something that maybe we could look into to try to figure out what is the city getting from these events? >> sure. i mean that it is easy to do. trying to make a distinction between ticketed verses free event and that income stream does not exist for the folks that and many of the ones that spoke today don't charge fees, and sell tickets. >> but, you know i am happy to do that and we know now based on mr. eagan's report what the value is

the mayor of my city i grew up in. i just came from celebrating my mothers 90th birtday in seattle and it is wonderful to see their parks. growing as all these cities grow. this is a great time to have this conference in san francisco. i'm proud to host it here and proud of the reck and park and commission and parks alliance and trust for public lands and all our private partners working together with us to not only expand, to maintain, to reutilize and refresh open spaces in our city. just this weekend as you were here opening we had sunday streets over in the bay view and it is exciting to always find out how people are celebrating those sunday streets. i know the other cities do that as well and it isn't just enough for us as a city to have the parks that we do have. we have to kick over streets once in a while and make sure those streets exhibit the kind of friendliness for at least a sunday to imagine and have our kids and families imagine how it is to play in open spaces without the challenges of the congested tr

city college plays a critical role, it is our city college. as we know the city college institution is unker the accrediting commission for a number of years so reel hear the information from had city attorney on the status of the lawsuit. today we can also celebrate the many years of struggle to maintain city college and fight for it many from the audience as well. i wanted to thank the faculty and sfudants and community members that are here today. it isn't only packing meetings that state accrediting bodies, the court room jzalcy many hearings here and at city college and inside and outside strategies to really defend the college. i think the coalition to save city college deserves credit for working with administrator jz others for saving a college. i think a lot change jd we'll hear a update since about 2 years ago we held the first hearings some i chaired years ago. i think thauls issue around the accrediting commission, homefully we'll have some questions answered. i think also as we commission budget and legislative analyst report for

why did you choose to live in the city?well, first of all, my parents decided to move us to the sunset district because they really wanted my brother and i to have a really good and safe r growing up. there were a lot of children and families in the sunset district and i think they felt like it would be the best environment for us to grow up. so, we ended up staying out there and fell in love with it and have a lot of pride after especially working for the sunset district as the electricity i have aide to supervisor chiu for over five years. and working with -- very intimately with a lot of community members, the merchants, our local residents who have, you know, interest in things such as public safety or public transportation, our school communities, our parks and play grounds, just really been such a wonderful experience working with them. so, i just really enjoyed that work experience as well as my own experience growing up there. >> how has your experience as aide to supervisor chiu prepared you for the board of superv

college that the city attorney took this on. i want to thank the member thofz board of supervisors because think you got it from the beginning what was happening at city college of terminated a public educational institution that city college was doing is not acceptable and not a outcome we should considerment you rallied with us and held hearings and commissioned ecnocic impact reports as supervisor mar noted, identified 300 million of economic impact from city college and so thank this bodfry all that work. where we are now and i'm not going to sugar coat this for you. it is going to take time and think it likely take years for city college to fully recover from its recent near death experience. it may be risen from the dead but close to being dud isn't good for you so there is a lot to do. some of the immediate challenges i worry about, the first is accredidation and the restoration status that we are under gives additional time until the beginning of jan 2017 to fully meet all accredidation standards. the remaining standards

and as a former city counciler in massachusetts and as well as being on the city property committee and i have kept myself out of politics because the 8 years was not easy and i am willing to tackle it now as i am. i am the director for the institute and i commute every day across the bridge, and so i am very interested in commuter issues, also my daughter is disabled and lives in the tender loin and she uses muni and bart very frequently not having a car and so i am very interested in disabled issues as well as being a city, and excuse me, a citizen's advocate, i am very interested? the impact of the parking and fees, on individuals, particularly people in the lower and middle and working classes in the city, and and i have brought up and in the past, and at a city council, and in the north hamp ton and a parking ban that happened in the winter that impacted the renters that could not park and it took me four years and i got it pass and they didn't have to, and not park when there wasn't snow, and which seemed to be kind of a no brainer, but, he could not, wrap their mind around it

the pill last year's that upside down the reputations is the arts san francisco's reputation as a city built on the backs of artists we have a cultural designation for people from around the region and around the world there is more art available to be experienced in san francisco in a single day than month cities offer in an entire year arts organizations help to fuel the economic engine of the city we employ people and we buy goods and services locally yet in the time of economic prosperity in san francisco and the increased in the city budget by 70 percent over the 10 year period grants for the arts commission has decreased by thirty percent compound by the affordability crisis particular in housing this deep funding has an outsized impact on artist and the arts organizations they serve artists are being driven from the city in small and mid sized organization very existence being threatened as a member of the loinsz we supported the position that any increase in the civic arts be helpful to that end we support and encourage you to include the 2 percent cost of living by the grants

growth is expected in this year quadrant of the city and scott wagner the city it is expected to grow hundred and $90,000 jobs on the jobs we've seen half of the growth in 5 years challenges, of course, are how those neighborhoods have integrated into the rest of the city making sure the departments reflects the diverse populations we think this will include noted a major rezoning ambassador for the transportation among other items the last two initiatives are longer-term and a little bit more challenging but something we have to get started on the waterfront itself it is obviously central to the city's economic well-being >> liveability and in recent decades the waterfront is from a industrial to one that is piggyback assessable and continuing to evolve of course, sea level rise we now building the city's targeted number we expect that the sea level rise will come to 36 inches by the end of the century we are work with a number of department to try to take the first steps to address the city's responds to sea level roadways and see that frankly as an opportunity to think differently
