his father actually works for city government, still works for city government today. and just to show you how interconnected all this is, and i say this almost everywhere, he wasn't radicalized in chattanooga but he came back to chattanooga to commit these acts which means we are we're all in this together in a really critical way. so after we had done a lot of work and we had a great response, a lot of articles were written about chattanooga and our response afterwards. we were contacted by the state department and mike is here with the u.s. state department, secretary kerry had started something called the strong cities network, all about how you combat violent extremism and troy to prevent these acts from occurring. i started going peer-to-peer, talking to other city they arranged that, not just in the u.s. but all around the world, we had numerous visitors from places, from the balkan areas, to the far east. we had tons of people and tried to learn what was happening. and this counterviolent extremism work is actually really important. there are people on the edge

i think the city, our cities have the responsibility to keep people alive. basically. until we have the opportunity to get to them. the other issue, what i've been reading about the research, that marijuana, cannabis legalization and allowing it to be used for medical treatment with people who are addicted has been very effective. i think in pennsylvania, for example, it's extremely hypocritical that the state of pennsylvania sponsors, sells, taxes and promotes alcohol in their own state store system, it's not even a private system, the government runs the alcohol sale system in pennsylvania, and then to recoil as somehow marijuana should not even be talked about when it is effective in treating people with opioid addiction. i think that that's -- and we saw in massachusetts, even from a revenue standpoint, pennsylvania, no one wants to raise taxes to pay for education or infrastructure or transportation because they signed that grover norquist pledge how many years ago and they'll never raise taxes under any circumstances, even if there's a major calamity. you don't h
