my name is wes, and i'm a recipient of free city over at city college. i'm here to speak in opposition to the appeal. as someone who goes to school there every single day, i'm excited to see something new in that lot, from the open community space that i get to go and relax and kind of take a breather away from things and the fact that it's going to replace a parking lot and something that's pretty much been unused the entire time that i've been there. i'm excited for this project, because i'm looking to go out of state to university of washington, but if i come back, i don't know if i'm going to be able to start a family. i don't know if i'm going to be able to come back to a city that i've always called home, and it's something that's personally scary for me. and, like, i can't imagine what teachers are going through. a lot of teachers new to the u.c. systems or new on the scene, they need community colleges to get their start, and the fact that we're going to be able to provide housing for them, but also 50% affordable housing on a much grander scheme
