i work for a non-profit here in the city and gets lot of donations from many caring city city city -- san franciscoans and from percentage wise i would know what dollar amount came in and when it was donated by. that said, i was wondering if you had any understanding or knowledge of the donor acknowledgment process that supervisor ferrell and his committee did. anyone who donated, is there a letter that goes out on behalf of the committee that thanked them for their contribution both in the primary and this secondary committee? i think there might be a misunderstanding here. supervisor ferrell, the only involvement between his committee and the voters committee were three e-mails that his consultant sent to e-mails. but his campaign people said they have no involvement at all. the only way they knew who the donors of the committee were from the website. >> my question stands well within the committee to reelect mark ferrell do you have any knowledge or understanding of what their process was? >> only the most general where they would have sent a thank you letter. >> my organization do

city hall guy. but i think that you might have the opposite problem, right? you're really an outsider, in many ways. you've never had any experience working in city hall or perhaps with city hall in a legislative way. how do you overcome that, and is that really a problem, being an outsider, in this city of insiders? >> i mean, it definitely is a city of insiders, no doubt, and when you look at a lot of cities that have been run by insiders for a long time, they have the same challenges that we have -- doing the same thing over and over again and just getting incremental results. by not being on the inside, i'm looking at things through a different lens and with a different perspective, and for so many elections in philadelphia, we do the same thing. we have someone from city council come in to be the mayor. when you look at companies who are struggling and when they to to choose their next c.e.o., they very rarely look at the inside because when you're an insider, you've been part of getting the city or the company to where it is. and you're very reluctant to say that there are challenges and really look at it with a critical eye. by coming in from the outside and leveraging the experiences that i've had, i'll be able to see really where we need to prioritize, and i'll be willing to

city this is in 2008. increasing 2,200 police officerses when it was our city was smaller than it was today. if you compare per capita to all pier cities and average per capita just the average of those cities we're way below if you just take us to the average that gets us to over 2,200 officers so any way you measure it we're under staffed and 2200 is reasonable indeed our projected growth in the future as a conservative starting point for police staffing so this goal is not going to happen over night it's only going to happen when per severance consistency in our budget process but it's a good goal to have. i want to mention two things madame chair and turn over to colleagues we're in agreement we need strong accountability from our police department we have the office of citizens complaints i'm very happy that the mayor has proposed additional funding for occ occ needs to be able to do it job i have seen in this roll and as deputy city attorney occ doesn't have the resources it needs it needs those resources i'm pleased the mayor has included funding for body cameras for police officers we want strong accountability but strong accountability doesn't mean having too few officers we need t
