city librarian. we are going to provide background on issues requesting today on making the teen center on the lab. we have a powerpoint presentation we are going to walk through. we have new skills that is going to involve new media. one of the reasons we have received the award is the department of california science, the bay area video coalition to in fact create this planning process that truly engages our young people. i will provide more details on that. it's also linked to other improvements to the entire process continued today but the focus is carving out the plan. in terms of the design process we engaged 19 youngster, teen advisory board members if you will from across the city involved in working side by side for a space they envisioned in the center. it's part of the learning skills and certainly about connected learning. it's a strong relationship in collaboration between the library and the department of public works. the focus to have here are some that involve they took the best for

i have written to the city librarian whos responded this morning and said that no permission was givene chronicle to violate the privacy of the three individuals in the two photographs. these photographs were taken by a commercial for-profit corporation. they have appeared not only in print, but also on the web. the city librarian informed me that the chronicle not only didn't ask for permission, but they have violated two rules of conduct about the library. you cannot take pictures in the library without permission. here the chronicle has done that. i also must address the potential for violating the state penal code, specifically section 6 47 j, subsection 1, which prohibits the taking of pictures in public rest rooms. i would like to know from the city attorney, the police department, and the district attorney what is being done to investigate the photographer lia fasuki for violating subsection 6 47 j subsection 1. this is not okay. these women in these pictures have had their privacy violated by a for-profit corporation. i think this is a matter for this board because the library

i, as a city librarian, felt compelled to at least explore that. at the point when i sent a response to mr. hartz saying that in my estimation, my judgment, i declined his request, then he filed the sunshine ordinance complaint. at that compliance committee when they suggested that we take it back to the commission, i did just that. that's why it came back. and i also felt that because of the expenditure involved, it would be their judgment, their call and policy determination to do that. so, i felt that was, again, doing due diligence in having a full public hearing on that matter and they did that. and, again, it was a 6-0 vote not to do it because they felt they were not in violation and they got some attorney, city attorney advice and also -- i mean, the brown act and sunshine ordinance did not prescribe a specific method of allowing the use of a-v equipment during public comment. so, they felt that they were going even beyond that by allowing the printing of any audiovisual equipment. and i want to qualify that. when we invite -- and it's real
