city council had a hearing recently about transforming philadelphia public schools into school-based family service centers. what does that mean? schools will be there to offer adult classes, for example, or a health clinic. some schools already do this. city council president darryl clark and others have gotten support from colleges and hospitals to do this kind of thing. clark says this kind of model is being done in 2/3 of philly schools. he wants it to expand to all failing schools in the city. >> when these models have been applied the academic level of achievement has increased. the health care aspect has increased dramatically. dropout rates have decreased. we need to do this in a very aggressive way in the city of philadelphia. >> the mission tonight is to try to figure out how to make this work across the board. south philly high school where we are for example has adult classes for those learning english as a second language. the meeting tonight will be open to everyone. that will be at the community college of philadelphia in spring garden. that's at 6:00 p.m. how do they h
