. >> leading off our discussion tonight is former democratic senator of missouri claire mccaskill. she is an msnbc political analyst. clare, we need the senate expertise tonight for this! i want to begin with senator sinema because president biden in his town hall discussion seemed to indicate there was no movement he was aware of or prepared to talk about on tax revenues from senator sinema. now we have this political reporting which indicates there is some possibility of senator sinema being willing to agree to an amount of revenue through various devices that might not involve individual tax rates. might involve other things. that seems, if true, to be a way to get there, and to get there soon. >> i think kyrsten sinema has hurt herself by not talking about what she is for. i understand she believes strongly negotiations should occur in private, and she will fully explain her vote when she makes her vote, and it will become a parents but she works for and cares about. in the interim, the vacuum is being filled by a lot of anger towards her. i've been on the phone all day, lawren

claire mccaskill, thank you very much for starting us off tonight. really appreciate it. >> you bet. >> thank you. >>> and joining us now is sylvia gonzalez anders, one of the members of senator sinema's veterans advisory council who resigned from that position in protest. she served in the air force from 1974 to 1978. thank you very much for joining us tonight. you know, i am mystified by senator cinema. i have never seen senate behavior like this, certainly on the democratic side. i have no idea what she thinks about anything. you know her, you would have supported her. do you understand why the senator is going off in directions that are different from what you thought she would do when she was a candidate? >> well, thank you very much for having me. no, i don't understand where she's coming from or what her plan is. >> and what brought you to the point where you, in effect have, it sounds like given up on her. have you given up on her? >> no, i'm hoping with all this events that we can come back together because i really want to support her for r

claire mccaskill is with us and has a question for ya. claire? >> yeah. you have any indication? you know, i assume these are right-wing lawyers that are taking these cases, potentially pro bono. are they getting paid by someone? i have to tell ya, when i was in the private practice of law, if somebody said, i want you to sue the hospital because they won't give me a horse de-worming drug, i would have said, "hey, go find a different lawyer." where are these lawsuits coming from? is there a plan behind the curtain to fund these lawsuits across the country? >> yes, it is a great point, senator. there's a larger thing at stake here. you have a law firm in buffalo, new york, that is filing most of these lawsuits. because they have a philosophy of personal freedom when it comes to your medical decisions. along with the thinking that, hey, what could go wrong? these people are close to death. what's the harm? but there's a lot of harm in doing this and giving judges veto power over medical decisions. judges are not doctors, and we should not want them to play

it's kind of simple. >> you want a claire mccaskill, represent a state that has a lot of divergent interests to understand that at one point in time when i was a senator, we had 60 democrats. but if you look at where those democrats came from, those are the states that we have to win to build majorities. let's just set aside kyrsten sinema and joe manchin and look at where pat toomey is retiring and wisconsin where you've got ron johnson, need i say more, and ohio and north carolina where we have elected democrats before. you build majorities in the united states senate by winning seats in places that are not bright blue, and when you win in places that aren't bright blue, you're not going to have members of the senate that agree with bernie sanders on everything. that's not -- that's not what they campaigned on. that's not how they got elected. out of one signed of our mouth everybody says we want politicians who said they would be who they were when they campaigned. why aren't you like bernie sanders? so i get that people are frustrated but, remember, kyrsten sinema was the first. they say

they will. >> claire mccaskill joins us again by phone. claire, will you getting react to what happened in the room? >> i am not getting a direct react to what happened in the room. i am getting more information from the senate side that biden went into the meeting with some pretty -- i wouldn't say detailed information, but not generalized information from both manchin and sinema about what they were for, what they wanted to support, what they could vote for. and i think that part of biden's message in that room was to say, listen, i have talked to these people. they have told me they will support a, b, and c. these are the policies they believe in. this is the amount that they may have agreed to. i hope i can get more. i think we will. but we all have to hang together or we are going to hang by your pittard. he probably would use a different word because he sometimes gets salty. so i think that he probably was there to deliver a message of unity and calming, but also to specifically bring information from those two senators who have balke

claire mccaskill has made this point on this program. ivf. should roe v.carriages, which are a tragedy, could become a new war against women. a criminal war. do you feel, joyce, like people understand what's on the line? what's before the united states supreme court right now? >> i think that they don't and the primary horror of this, women who need or want abortions and who are unable to access them, that's horrific. these cases about younger women. these cases about people in difficult situations. victims of domestic violence or women who don't feel prepared or ready to carry a pregnancy to term. there are a lot of complicated questions there in the supreme court's judgment, best left to a woman and her doctor to decide. beyond that, this notion of women that do terminate a pregnancy or worse still, women who suffer a miscarriage but have a vindictive person around them who allegations it wasn't a miscarriage, but abortion, are then subject to criminal prosecution, whatever new standard the supreme court sets, we have fetuses who now carry the same right
